Sir Chris Martin is one of the smoothest guys on the keys. Make sure yo catch Swizz’s album One Man Band Man on August 23rd. SOURCE

I’m Totally Gay For: Aly & AJ

August 8th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in MP3

Not that Pretty Much Amazing is completely obsessed with Disney Money Makers (i.e. Zac Efron, High School Musical, Hannah Montana) but one of my newest and most lethal guilty pleasures is the soon to be (blonde)bombshell sister act Aly & AJ. If you have been deprived on what has the potential to be one of the funnest songs of the summer (no, year!), flip to Disney Channel or Nickelodeon and watch their kinky music video for “Potential Breakup Song”. The snakey synth goodness of “Potential…” reminds me, vaguely, of Muse, with a distinct girly-pop “umph”-esque ‘tude. Watch the video below, after a few times you catch onto the you’re-nothing-without-me lyrics. Its ok, your toe can tap away, no one’s watching
[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=SgJvzSI_cAQ]

These girls have massive potential. “Potential Break Up Song” has been stuck on the lower half of iTune’s Top 10 for a while now, and with very little radio play (other than Radio Disney). Basically, if you’re pop lover and don’t dig them, something must be wrong with you. Their new wave chic sound is loads better than anything out there. Another track
off of their new album Insomniatic, “Bullseye”, is a catchy, heavy, post-breakup version of their first single. Both songs have that in-your-face vibe that seems to be a refreshing reminder of why guys are such go-getting jerks.

BONUS: MP3s after the Jump.

I’m Totally Gay For: Zac Efron’s Rolling Stone Cover

August 7th, 2007 | 60 Comments | Posted in Entertainment

Nineteen-year-old teenage heart throb Zac Efron will be on the cover of the next Rolling Stone SOURCE. On the next issue, Zac Efron talks to RS about staring in the biggest made-for-TV musicals of all time, selling over 7 million copies of the High School Musical Soundtrack, and keeping his cool while trying to break into the industry as one of Hollywood’s Next Leading Men.

After taking a few looks (actually after the first look, really) at his Rolling Stone cover, it is no wonder why the RS editors strategically captioned Zac Efron’s sexiness (pictured above, below, and left) as The New American Heart Throb. I wonder how many teen-aged girls will rush out to newsstands everywhere once its out.

So, what do you guys think? I KNOW there are a lot of Zac Efron fans here (read this, this, this, and this), so is Zac Efron here (when we say here we mean, in Hollywood) for good? Or is he another eye candy-esque fad?

Sean Kingston Tops Hot 100, Lil Mama Gets Involved.

August 7th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Entertainment, MP3

PMA Rating: B+

Our favorite suicidaaaal newcomer, Sean Kingston has definitely struck gold with his huge hit “Beautiful Girls”, topping Billboard’s Hot 100 this week with digital sales of 260,000 SOURCE. We’ve definitely not heard the last of this 17 year old, or his  ”Stand By Me” sampling joint. But just in case you are dead tired of his accent or the song itself (I know I am), take a listen to Jojo’s soulful rendition of the track, or Lil Mama’s refreshing remix.

10 More Songs That Are Stuck In Your Head Like A…

August 7th, 2007 | 5 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

This is a follow-up to one of the most popular “Top 10 Songs Stuck In Your Head” articles ever, the WebMD one, of course.

According to Daniel J. DeNoon’s research, the following are the Top 10 songs stuck in people’s heads

  1. Other. Everyone has his or her own worst earworm. (I agree)
  2. Chili’s “Baby Back Ribs” jingle.
  3. “Who Let the Dogs Out”
  4. “We Will Rock You”
  5. Kit-Kat candy-bar jingle (”Gimme a Break …”)
  6. “Mission Impossible” theme
  7. “YMCA”
  8. “Whoomp, There It Is”
  9. “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”
  10. “It’s a Small World After All”

Those are nice and dandy and sure, they’ve all been in our heads countless times, but with modern Top 40 radio’s knack of pop music overkill, these are the Hipest 10 Songs that are stuck in your head.

  1. Any song you know ONLY the chorus to.
  2. “My Humps” - Black Eyed Peas
  3. “Fergalicious” - Fergie
  4. “You’re Beautiful” - James Blunt
  5. “Hollaback Girl” - Gwen Stefani
  6. “SexyBack” - Justin Timberlake
  7. “Photograph” - Nickelback
  8. “The Sweet Escape” - Gwen Stefani
  9. “Your Body Is A Wonderland” - John Mayer
  10. “I Got It From My Mama” - will.i.am

RE: New Backstreet Boys - “Inconsolable”

August 6th, 2007 | 12 Comments | Posted in Entertainment, MP3

Earlier today I reported that Z100 would play the Backstreet Boys’ new song “Inconsolable” today, and unlike “Get Back”, they did (in ear pleasing quality, thankfully). I can see tons of teen aged girls falling on their faces over all the Backstreet Boys excitement. I, being an ‘N Sync fan myself, never really liked the Backstreet Boys much, until I heard their song ”Incomplete”. Now that was a great track. This song is just as good, and I cant wait for their 6th studio album to hit stores October 30th.

Listen | Backstreet Boys - “Inconsolable”

Now that you’ve heard it, loved/hated/whatever’d it, tell us your life story (or anything pertaining to the track itself)

The Seven-Blog Bible: The Blogs That Can Save Your Life Presents: Boing Boing

August 6th, 2007 | 6 Comments | Posted in Entertainment

[digg=http://digg.com/tech_news/Boing_Boing_is_Part_of_The_Seven_Blog_Bible]
Lets face it people, Blogs are taking over the world. Over the past few years millions of blogs have been created; private ones, funny ones, cynical ones, musical ones, creative ones, pointless ones, lame ones,  and a few have become essential to our lives (yes, that is how lazy we’ve become). Pretty Much Amazing presents The Seven-Blog Bible: The Blogs That Can Save Your Life. This is the first of the eight-part series to bring you the Seven-Blog Bible. Hype it up!

Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things:

Remember when you first stumbled upon Boing Boing, remember looking confused as you read “A Directory of Wonderful Things” and thinking, wtf is that. I do. Of course, all of us know exactly what a directory of wonderful things is now, thanks to the creators of this, erm, blog. Boing Boing has been critized and undergone much scruitny by “blog reviewers” because of its “incapability to produce original content”. This, my friends, is what I like to call bulls***. Boing Boing is driven mostly by user link suggestions. Understand that Boing Boing is read by hundreds of thousands of readers daily; to even fathom the amount of suggestions the owners go through every day to create what we all recognize as Boing Boing is almost scary. Think of Boing Boing like a social networking site of sorts, much like Digg, or Del.icio.us, but the guys who run the joint actually go through each source link and make the content look like their own. Boing Boing is your guide to nonsensical knick-knacks and oddball news. That comes in handy in the life-long venture of saving your life.

Stay tuned for the occasional update on The Seven-Blog Bible: The Blogs That Can Save Your Life series.
