I’m Totally Gay For: Aly & AJ

Not that Pretty Much Amazing is completely obsessed with Disney Money Makers (i.e. Zac Efron, High School Musical, Hannah Montana) but one of my newest and most lethal guilty pleasures is the soon to be (blonde)bombshell sister act Aly & AJ. If you have been deprived on what has the potential to be one of the funnest songs of the summer (no, year!), flip to Disney Channel or Nickelodeon and watch their kinky music video for “Potential Breakup Song”. The snakey synth goodness of “Potential…” reminds me, vaguely, of Muse, with a distinct girly-pop “umph”-esque ‘tude. These girls have massive potential. “Potential Break Up Song” has been stuck on the lower half of iTune’s Top 10 for a while now, and with very little radio play (other than Radio Disney). Basically, if you’re pop lover and don’t dig them, something must be wrong with you. Their new wave chic sound is loads better than anything out there. Another track
off of their new album Insomniatic, “Bullseye”, is a catchy, heavy, post-breakup version of their first single. Both songs have that in-your-face vibe that seems to be a refreshing reminder of why guys are such go-getting jerks.
