What’s wrong with pop music? It’s more of a rhetorical question, I don’t need a shitfull of unhappy Pitchfork fan boys preaching about the evil, spawn of Satan that is Pop Music. This goes out to those same Pitchfork fan boys who are desperately trying to prove their indie cred. Take a breather, guys. You can actually turn up KIIS FM and not feel completely suicidal. Here are the 5 Pop Acts you are allowed to like without getting your ass kicked by the indie police.
UPDATE: Read The Rap-Response to this post here.

Lily Allen on eMusic
You gotta love this bad ass Brit; in essence, she’s a likeable Lady Soveriegn. She’s so badass she’s beating out Chris Martin and Patrick Stump as Rap’s favorite Pop Hook, believe me, that’s bad ass. Stereogum loves Allen like no other, well second to the Arcade Fire.

Nelly Furtado on eMusic
There are few things in this world that can be recognized almost anywhere; you have coke, a woman’s breasts, and Nelly Furtado. Unless you and your stash of coke and porn have been hiding under a rock since the summer of 2006, you have, most likely, been graced my Nelly’s beauty and Timbaland’s stabbing deep-drum. Love and loathed,Nelly Furtado holds a unique groove and mellowness that when combined work amazingly well on the dance floor, and just as good on my iPod headphones.

Rihanna on eMusic
Basically, you weren’t allowed to like Rihanna, Top 40 Radio is a no-no for you.

Kelly Clarkson on eMusic
Kelly Clarkson is American Idol’s sole hope, and luckily she is one feisty motherf*****. I was surprised ol’ Mister Davis didn’t have a heart attack, I certainly wouldn’t want to cross paths with Miss Never Again. Aside from being a firely bitch, Clarkson can write a mean pop hook, or sing it, whatever. Since You’ve Been Gone was everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure in 2005,winning her an All-Star fanbase (Gwen Stefani, David Grohl, etc). Bite me Madden Bros.

Justin Timberlake on eMusic
Somehow Mr. Timberlake bypassed the indie-scene’s gaydar and has become a crowd favorite as well as a blogger and mixer’s wet dream. It seems the world can’t tire of Justin, he’s released 9 million singles and his videos are getting chronically worse, but those fly suits and damned
mixes do it for me. No one lays it down as well as my good friend Samuel. “If he were a skate board, he’d be down with all the cool kids.”

So, how come all these artists have links next to their names that say “on eMusic” when none of them are actually on eMusic? I’m new to PMA and was excited to get some of this music with my eMusic account and was disappointed to find that none was there…
