After Luis’ glowing review of “Across the Universe” as a trippy, LSD-induced cinematic phantasmagoria, I went to go see it last night. The film started out slow, but truly strived to portray an individual vision. I thought the chemistry between Marilyn Manson’s amor Evan Rachel Wood and British actor Jim Sturgess was very believable and their romance was sweet and innocent (only one nudey scene in this pg-13 film!). But what really captured my interest and kept it was the re-vamped Beatles songs, sung by the actors themselves. I never became a big Beatles fan, but I really loved the songs in this film. Check them out for yourselves below. Also, if you get a chance, see the movie! I definitely recommend seeing it on the big screen.

mp3: If I Fell [Evan Rachel Wood]
mp3: I’ve Just Seen A Face [Jim Sturgess]
(Here’s the album sold on Amazon.)
Also, check out the music of singer Dana Fuchs who plays rockstar/landlord/cougar Sadie in the movie. She has a very powerful voice!

Speaking of songful films, here’s a wonderful ditty from another great (and funny) musical movie. Remember the Whoopi Goldberg comedic gems, Sister Act & Sister Act 2? I don’t know what it is about nuns in habits running through casinos that makes me smile. But it’s also the great singing..
When Jesus walks (when Jesus walks).. when Jesus waaaaaaaaalks
Have a happy day!
