And currently, my brief moment of life is being enjoyed with Juanes playing on my ipod. His smooth vocals and great pop/rock fusion tell me that my seven years of Spanish language study have not gone to waste, despite my utter incapability to speak Spanish. Because, even without speaking Spanish, I enjoy his music.

Juanes, you spicy Colombian fox!
Quien es Juanes?
Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez best known as Juanes (born August 9, 1972 in Carolina del PrÃncipe, Antioquia) is a Colombian rock musician. During the 1980s and 1990s, Juanes was a member of heavy metal band Ekhymosis but disbanded the group in 1998 to pursue a solo career. His 2000 solo debut album, FÃjate Bien, had moderate commercial success and went on to win three Latin Grammy Awards.
His second album, Un DÃa Normal was certified platinum throughout much of the Spanish-speaking world, and its lead single “A Dios le Pido” topped singles charts in twelve countries. Mi Sangre, his third album, fared equally well with Juanes promoting it on a tour with over 200 performances. The album’s third single, “La Camisa Negra”, generated controversy after being used as a symbol for Italian neo-fascism. Juanes is one of the best-selling Colombian musicians, having sold more than ten million albums and won twelve Latin Grammys. Juanes is also known for his humanitarian work, especially with aid for Colombian victims of anti-personnel mines. (You gotta love Wikipedia)
What I like about Juanes is his ability to not only create music which is aurally pleasing but he also hits more controversial themes or sings about modern political issues (such as the song “Minas Piedras” which is about land mines). Now only if I understood la lingua de Espanol, I could figure out if he is against/for land mines.
Juanes’ newest CD “La Vida… Es un Ratico” was just released in late October and his loyal fans have already been gobbling the cd up.

Juanes shields us from his blinding hotness

I love Juanes! He’s amazing.
Excellent comments from an english speaker it’s such an honor to us Latin Americans that you like our music, I was looking for a tour review of Juanes “La Vida es un Ratico” and I found this, by the way Minas Piedras is a great song not so commercial but with an good message.
