Thanks to the newly opened My Dirty Lies for letting me know about Machinae Supremacy’s (MaSu for short) cover of Britney Spears’ ‘Gimme More’. I’ve never quite heard ‘Gimme More’ in this light, I’ve heard it acoustic, in ballad, even punked out, but this is taking it to a whole nother level, guys. MaSu cleverly shreds ‘Gimme More’ from its audacious, thumping bass derived beat and lays the computer induced-riffage on hard. Pressing with their determination to own the track, MaSu also gets rid of Britney’s sex-kitten vocals and reinvents the song with the gothesque vocals. Quiet an extraordinary, undeniably imaginative reworking of ‘Gimme More’. Props to MaSu.
