Pitchforks Top 50 Albums of 2007: Love/Hate uncategorized
All the music geeks live at Pitchforkapolis. The music geekdom powerhouse has unleashed it’s Top 50 Albums of 2007, and its quite a list. The praise it’s received is kind of intimidating, but really, P4K wouldn’t be P4K if it wasn’t intimidating, right? I plan on dissecting a few other big dog lists, so why not kick things off with Pitchfork?

Love
02. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver - Sound of Silver is positioned perfectly, I think. This album was topped only by one other… but I don’t think It was Person Pitch.
03. M.I.A. - Kala - I haven’t stopped listening to this album for weeks now, I have re-fallen in love with it. Perfect position here too.
07. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga - I am so glad Spoon are getting their dues and Ga Ga is being recognized as one of the best indie-pop albums out there.
18. Kanye West - Graduation - A little lower than I’d put it, but what can ya do?
40. Beirut - The Flying Club Cup / Lon Gisland EP - SO glad the top 10 wasn’t taken up by Beirut hype.
49. Dizzee Rascal - Maths + English - Kind of surprised to see this one here, nice touch.

Hate
01. Panda Bear - Person Pitch - As amazing as Person Pitch was, there is no way it was better than Sound of Silver, just no freaking way.
04. Radiohead - In Rainbows
- I’m all for Radiohype, but to be so bold as to place In Rainbows upto No. 4, that’s just idiotic. Lower half of the Top 10, if you’re feeling generous, please.
05. Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? -
I never thought for a second that I’d see this int he Top 5
13. Jay-Z - American Gangster -
This maybe his best work in 10 years, but it is definitely not the best rap album of the year.
14. Deerhunter - Cryptograms / Fluorescent Grey EP - I’ve had enough of these guys.
19. Feist - The Reminder -
One of the most magical pop albums in years at No. 19!!! WTF?
27. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible -
Look at #19, and #2, then add a plethora of WTFs and DIE NOWs.
38. Wu-Tang Clan - 8 Diagrams -
Overall bad, bad, bad album.
42. Ghostface Killah - The Big Doe Rehab -
Behind Wu-Tang?
