You may recognize her as Amanda from Ugly Betty, which the last episode from season 2 was on Thursday. The Writer’s Strike has caused season 2 of Ugly Betty to end early, and it better not interfere with season 3 (if there is one). Well, above is a clip from Ugly Betty’s last episode so far, and it is where Amanda (Becki Newton) sings “Gene Simmons Is My Daddy”. My favorite part in the whole last episode was when Amanda used the Britney Spears’ reference in the beginning of the clip, “It’s Mandy, Bitch”, and the line “A famous Gene is in my genes, because he got in my momma’s jeans…”

For all you readers out there who don’t watch Ugly Betty, Amanda is a girl working at a magazine in “Mode” who is obsessed with eating, and sex. Once she found out that she was adopted, she was devastated and destined to find her real parents. She found out that her mother was Fey Summers, Mode’s editor before she died, from Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams), who was Fey’s assistant. Then Amanda hired some psychic named Linda, who lead Amanda to finding her real father was Gene Simmons, from the band “Kiss”. Marc (Amanda’s best friend)(Michael Urie), told her that if she wrote a song and sang it and posted it on YouTube, then Gene Simmons would actually pay attention to her, but in the middle of singing the song in front of a live concert in a club, Gene Simmons came in the club and saw her own daughter singing a song to him. Very touching.
