Arctic Monkeys fans have been waiting for news like this for quite a while. But the wait will come to an end soon enough. According to Daily Star, Arctic Monkeys are going to release their third album this year. That would make it album number three in three short years (not counting Alex Turner’s side project The Last Shadow Puppets, whose debut album drops April 21st). Fans are either gitty or pessimistic when it comes to learning of the third Arctic coming. Sophomore effort, Favorite Worst Nightmare was as good as, but not better than the ubiquitous debut Whatever People Say…, but is a third consecutive (dare I say) masterpiece asking a little too much?

This source seems to disagree:

“A lot of people were surprised to see Arctics at the Brits as it’s usually the kind of event they steer clear of. The reason they went is because they’ve been down in London working on new material and fancied a night off to relax. Alex is overflowing with song ideas and it’s all going so well they’re looking at releasing an album this year.”

So Mr. Frontman is “overflowing with song ideas”, to most this sounds sensational, but I just have to bring this up; this may be the crash and burn critics have been waiting for since Who the Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys?
