Earlier, I ranked Lil Wayne’s “A Milli” as my second favorite song of 2008, so far. I, personally find Lil Wayne to be one of the best rappers alive — and not just because he’s always telling me so. I’ve had the “Weezy is the best rapper in the game right now” conversations dozens of times with many people and I found that it’s mostly the white guys who agree with me. White people think Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive – plain and simple (I know I’m not covering any uncharted ground here, this has been a fact of life for a very long time now). And why wouldn’t they? I may be engaging in a bit of satire here, but white people (who believe Lil Wayne is Hip Hop’s savior) love to think that they are into Intellectual shock rock music (see: Radiohead) because they themselves are intellectual and go around pretending they can understand what Thom Yorke is bellowing out because it makes them feel like the music they listen to everyday is making them a better person or is changing their life in one way or another. These same people pride themselves in listening to Lil Wayne, Kanye West, or Lupe Fiasco because they think they are separating themselves from the “ringtone rap” (see:T-Pain, Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop”) mold. It makes them feel smart to think that the rap they listen to is somehow revolutionary.
But you know what? I think “A Milli” is just plain amazing. The best rap song I’ve heard in a very long time.
The song alone is a great, almost dizzying banger, but it also seems to be the richest remix gold since MGMT’s “Time To Pretend”. Pardon the crappy pun, but there are literally A Milli ‘A Milli’ remixes! Some are just good and others are ridiculously great!

Omg youre too funny.
My name is Danny T. I’m white and I think Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive.
Lil Wayne isn’t always make me feel smart. It does make me feel sort of important though. Like I’m part of some revolution… haha.
Henry:
you and 1 million other people.
It’s more like 2 million now.
2 million white people who think Lil Wayne is the shit… and Thom Yorke is god
Wait… Thom York isn’t god?
GREAT remixes btw

Way to go!
Haha, this should be a post on Stuff White People Like
That was interesting…
I enjoyed the mixes though.
Blog satire? On my internet? It’s more likely than you think.
I’m still confused. Then again I’m not white, or male. I like my rap music dripping with suggestive euphemisms, thank you.
Golden. Really Golden
Your blog leaves skid marks everywhere it sits XD
Thanks for posting all the good ones. I was just about ready to sift through Hypem for them *_*
I just like to hear people make orgasm sounds, that’s why I listen to Radiohead and whatever else Thom Yorke drools out.
I concur. Weird how people can have the “my music is better than yours” perspective. Anyhow, I think the production (by Bangladesh) and Weezy’s delivery makes this one of the best songs of the year – and prompted me to make my own remix (drum & bass-ish):

for a similar sound and delivery, check out Busta Rhymes – I Got Bass, also produced by Bangladesh.

Alright, I’ll throw my hat in the ring; check out my “A Milli (Swagger Over Here Remix)”. Maybe if there’s enough remixes for another roundup you’ll throw it in!

And yeah, it’s a fucking great track. He’s a beast, he’s a dog, he’s a muthafuckin’ problem.
ew a milli is the worst song ever..
where do i start?
lil waynes helium voice? His awful girl laugh?
the cheap snare drums?
the aggravatingly repetitive “a milli” in the background?
The horrid lyrics?
I think what really made A Milli a hit was the fact that it was so raw, so gritty, so lyrical and it wasn’t really pop like everything else Lil Wayne was doing mainstream. It was a mixtape-esque track and it caught on big time. You should link up some other A Milli remixes that other rappers did. I think dudes like Jadakiss killed it, Jay-Z of course, among others. There’s a not so known rapper who did a really good A Milli remix, his name is Young Frank. He’s a bit underground but he runs his own blog and does Myspace and Youtube stuff. He actually posted up a link to his “A Milli” remix, I highly recommend it.
