Re: Tip Jar aside

You may have noticed that a tip jar has just popped up in the sidebar recently, it looks a lot like the one above actually (go ahead and click it!) — well don’t be alarmed! I put it there, I promise. I put it there because: 1. many people tell me that they love the blog and that if there were a tip jar around, they’d totally contribute. This is probably the main reason why I decided to put it up. It had really never crossed my mind. But knowing that SOMEONE might actually do it made me feel a lot better. 2. keeping PMA up-to-date takes a lot of time; especially now that I have decided to update it 5 times a day Monday through Friday. I’m still debating on whether or not to take the weekends off. I don’t really treat this as a job, but it is quickly becoming one. I’m not complaining! This is seriously the best job in the world, and I’d love to take on the challenge.

I’m not implying that any major regime changes are going on around PMA, it will just be more thorough in coverage, which ultimately means more new music and information for you to digest. I have been putting up ads on PMA for a while now, that’s just something you will have to live with — a blogger’s got to eat right? Anyway, the Tip Jar is 100% optional, obviously, and just for those who feel like they want to help PMA out in some way. If you do want to help, this is probably the best way. Between inflated server costs (more and more of you come every day!) and the time it takes to keep this blog afloat, I could use all of the help I can get!

Well this was just me explaining what the tip jar was all about. Now go click it! Or not! Whatever, it’s cool!

I didn’t know where to ask this so let’s use this post for the question. Is anybody else having some trouble accessing PMA for the last 2 days? Every page needs at least 15-20 more seconds to open. Something about indieclick.com is loading about some 20 times. Anybody else having this problems?

  2. Andrew

ummm, i’m not having loading problems.

  3. I’m not having loading problems. But I will let indieclick know…

    thanks.

It’s the same thing in Opera and IE, and here I did a screenshot just to see what Firefox is reporting with indieclick

Yes, I have that problem as well. It’s quite annoying to be honest.

  6. Lucy

    Yeah, me too…

Very slow to load each page +_+

I usually close the window/tab if it takes more than 5 secs to load.
But I like this blog, heh!

  7. Hmm..

    here’s a screenshot of what I’m getting.

I am not sure what I should do…

I think it has to do something with indieclick and ads that ran through them, cause I’m getting the same problem on MOSSIP. I don’t know what’s happening.

  9. The ads do slow down the page load. Willis (MOSSIP) and I were talking, but page load was 5-8 seconds. Not something outrageous like 20 seconds. But I guess it all depends on your internet speed.

I don’t think anything can be done, just have to live with it.

I’ve seen that guy before! I someone I know smoked with him too…

I still think it’s some sort of the glitch with their ads. When you see your and mine screenshot you can see the difference in number of optimize.indieclick.com links/pics, I get at least 20 of them while you get 1, my internet connection is 1024kb/s. I googled this a bit and it’s not the first time indieclick had this kind of problems.

Luis thank you very much for trying to help I just love reading your blog, let’s just hope that guys over at indieclick can fix this in a next few days.

  12. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I have emailed indieclick in respect to this. Waiting for their response.

  13. The best thing to do is to move all your JavaScript includes to the bottom of the page. This will make the page load faster and things like ads and other unnecessary goodies will load last.

See Yahoo’s “Best Practices for Speeding Up Your Web Site.”

Luis, I don’t know what you did, but everything is back to normal.
    Yeah :D
