What about Twitter as a news aggregator (using one of the PBS, CNN, BBC, CBC, NPR and other news tweets) or as a public issues learning tool (www.twitter.com/The_Pub_Debates)? Since Twitter keeps the headline short and sweet (while linking to the story), its an efficient way to scan.
