COACHELLA 2012

You read our guide to Coachella Friday, now here is what we're doing on Saturday. (Click the arrows to navigate through our itinerary.)

12:05 – 12:40: Keep Shelly in Athens @ Mojave
If you can crawl out of your tent this early, go recover from your hangover with the dreamy, haunting electropop of Greece’s majorly hyped Keep Shelley in Athens – it’ll be a perfect set to ease into another day of stage-hopping.

2:15 – 3:00: Black Lips @ Mojave
We’re skipping sets from killer acts – Childish Gambino, Destroyer, Azealia Banks, the Vaccines – to see Black Lips, just because we feel like everyone needs to see this band once; intra-band makeouts, onstage nudity, and all. Plus, we’re still obsessed with their latest record Arabia Mountain and the singles that they’ve released since then, and we want to get our mosh quota for the day out of the way early.

3:25 – 4:10: The Big Pink @ Mojave
You might as well just camp yourself out in a shady spot in front of the Mojave stage for a while – The Big Pink cap off a great set of lesser-known acts there in the early afternoon. We’ve heard cool things about their live show, and we’re fairly enamored of their new record Future This, so we’re sticking around.

4:50 – 5:35: Tune-Yards @ Outdoor Theatre
Time to pick up and move – if you’re going to Coachella, we simply can’t stress enough that you must see Tune-Yards. Live, Merrill Garbus’s songs take on an electrifying life of their own that really has to be seen to be believed. We’ll never get tired of watching her make irresistible tribal pop with a looping pedal, some drums, a ukelele, and her voice.

6:05 – 6:55: Andrew Bird @ Outdoor Theater
Everyone’s gotta see Andrew at least once too – whether he’s with a band or solo, his live shows are absolutely hypnotic. He’s also a perfect follow-up for Tune-Yards: Andrew’s also a master of the looping pedal, and of making pop music with unexpected instrumentation.

7:20 – 8:10: Jeff Mangum @ Outdoor Theater
Duh. There's really nothing else to say.

7:45 – 8:35: St. Vincent @ Gobi
If you can make it over after Jeff’s set, try to catch some of Annie Clark’s wicked guitar pyrotechnics. Last weekend she crowd-surfed, so get up near the front!

9:30 – 10:20: Bon Iver @ Coachella Stage
Justin Vernon and co. put on a live show that can’t be missed, and obviously Bon Iver has still got legs, so you’d be remiss to skip this one, no matter how tempting David Guetta may be.

11:05 – on: Radiohead @ Coachella Stage
Another duh – not only are Radiohead’s festival sets customarily impressive, but there’s really nowhere else to be (we’d think about catching A$AP Rocky if it didn’t mean skipping Radiohead, but it means skipping Radiohead). With a different setlist at every show, they’re bound to reach deep into their back catalogue for some of your favorite old-school jams.

Here they are performing "Paranoid Android" last week (hint: it's magnificent):
