Chrome Sparks

Having released one of the more enjoyable EPs of the year, Chrome Sparks knows a thing or two about what makes a good summer jam. So we listen to him when he sends us over a list of his favorite warm weather songs. It's as diverse a list as you'd expect from Chrome touching on Aphex Twin, Michael McDonald and everyone in between.

If you want more Chrome Sparks and/or like partying on a boat, he'll be DJing our party on the Hudson River next Saturday. Details on how you can procure (and even win) tickets are found right here.

Without further ado, Chrome's top 10 summer songs:

01 Connan Mockasin - "Caramel"
"I had this track on repeat before I downloaded it. It was streaming through the website on repeat and I had it open as a tab in safari on my phone for a month."

02 Stereolab - "Refractions in the Plastic Pulse"
"What an epic track!!! I listen to this every Sunday as a ritual."

03 Papercuts - "Once We Walked in the Sunlight"
"I heard this on the radio and thought 'wow, beach house owes
everything to this (presumably) old band', then did some research and found out that the album was not very old, and that the main dude from the band had recorded beach house at his spot. I love shit like that."

04 Kidkanevil & Daisuke Tanabe - "The Last Train"
"This track is an obsession of mine. The chords do things to me."

05 Sophie - "Bipp"
"The first time I heard this, I was waiting for a beat to drop. So
happy that it left me hanging... hanging in the best way."

06 Aphex Twin - "Alberto Balsam"
"It's easy to pass over Aphex Twin's most amazing works
because getting into his shit far after he's started releasing stuff, it's easy for the masterpieces to blend together. This track is one of the few masterpieces that have truly stuck out to me in an intense way."
???????

07 Space Art - "Juares"
"Couldn't believe this was made in 1980 when a friend introduced me to
this album... future shit."

08 Magical Mistakes - "Laid Out"
"Every individual aspect of this track is so well put together. I can't stop listening to it and it freaks me out every time."

09 Michael McDonald - "I Keep Forgettin'"
"Goddammit. This track is so funky. It's been in my head nonstop for months."

10 Metronomy - "The Bay"
"For some reason it took me until earlier this year to become obsessed with Metronomy. I could pick any of the tracks, but I'll pick this one. Such an earworm... everything this dude does is so masterfully written and recorded, I can hardly handle it."
