I’m PMA because I’m an avid reader (and commenter) of the site. I live/breathe music and would love to attend APW. If chosen, I’d happily provide a review and obviously promote the crap out of PMA for sending me.

I’m Pretty Much Amazing in that, not only do I subscribe (and actually read the posts), but I continuously scour the internet for new songs and music inspiration. I also have a small blog where I discuss some of my findings, as well as review shows I have been to (a number that remains dismally low).

Because I have flights reserved from Scotland to Colombia via New York, and if I win I’ll move them all so that I can go.

Also, I’ve been spreading the PMA word over here in the UK, which makes you a a worldwide superstar.

Also, I live in Manchester, but I promise not to do this to Jim Jefferies

Even if I don’t win, you should watch it, because it’s very funny.

I am a sophomore at school in Wisconsin and after this term I am going to take a year off starting in the beginning of august and bike from Vancouver to Mexico along the west coast. Seeing as it is all points west and I find it very fitting. Also, if i were to go I would get directly on an Amtrak in NY and start my journey in the best way ever with a pretty much amazing festival.

I’m PMA because I do music journalism, i live in California, and I’ve never been to the east coast, and have always wanted to go, what better reason to go than winning APW passes, that would be PDA(Pretty Damn Amazing!) MGMT, Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, The Ting Tings, The Black Keys that would PMMMY(Pretty Much Make My Year!) But yea that’d be pretty sweet. I just want to be as PMA as you guys, this would give me something amazing to blog about. Lol, sorry for all the acronyms.

Reply

John Laguio April 4, 2009 at 6:14 am

Come to think of it, nothing in my personal set of PMA qualities would qualify me to see the Arctic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Black Keys (there are obviously many more, but the set list is already posted and you don’t need to to retype it here, heh.). Instead, I should only hope for the increase in PMA-ness(?) that attending APW would bestow upon me. Also, I live in New York where we have cows instead of concerts. Music Festivals are rare for me.

I’m PMA because I spend all my hard-earned money on concert tickets… Clearly, I have a problem. But you can’t deny my passion for the music (enduring thronging masses, fights, weed clouds, no bathroom breaks, long hours standing in line, long hours waiting for a show to start, concert buddies who talk too much, lack of concert buddies, drunken teenyboppers, and fellow concert-goers who fart/burp in my general vicinity). In short, I’ll endure almost anything to enjoy a few moments of pure, unadulterated musical bliss. And that’s either PMA or PMC (pretty much crazy).

I’m pretty much amazing because I live and breathe music. Music is my passion and getting the chance to hear new bands or new material from fav bands is like a fucking orgasm. not to kiss ass here, but I do believe this site is something else, you introduce me to new music every time I check out this site, this site is pretty much like a drug. I’m also pretty much amazing because I speak Spanish, play the acoustic guitar, can do back flips, and I’m a huge Coldplay and Vampire Weekend fan, they make my life better everyday.

Reply

Zach Hart April 5, 2009 at 12:34 am

I’m PMA because despite all the extra hours of work I put in, and all the sleepless nights to get my pregnant girlfriend everything I need, I don’t feel any hate or regrets about it. Being a dad will open my mind to more about life, parenthood, and more importantly Family. I can’t wait till Late May. The festival just won’t be just about music, but about being together and enjoying it with thousands around us.

And oh yea, these would be great for me and her to attend for a long 9 months of screaming, food cravings, emergency drives and phone calls and of course labor that we (but mainly her) will have to endure. Yep… I Love Her :)

My birthday is 4 days before the start of this festival so nice b-day gift too.

I’m PMA because I think the most telling question to ask someone is “If you had to be half-person, half-hot dog, divided at the waste, which half would be which and why?”

I am bottom half-hot dog, because I’d still like to be able to think, use my arms and eat, but I understand the argument for walking and getting down.

I deserve these because I’m getting laid off in June and this would be a wonderful thing to look forward to this summer. And I had fun at last year’s APW.

I’m Pretty Much Amazing because 6 months ago, straight out of college, I moved to 5 hours north to the dirty Jerz, for a job, not knowing a soul. I lived in a shitty hotel for month. I finally got a place-only to learn that I had to pay an 800.00 student loan payment every month for the next 30 years-meaning no money. No Money=no fun. No fun=no friends. Its a vicious cycle. I download music off of your page for amusement and plug my ipod in at work everyday to escape. The only concert I have ever been to was Jay-Z in my sophomore year of high school. Although Jay-Z is great, it was hardly moving. At this rate, considering current financial status-I won’t make it to one anytime soon. But most importantly, beyond the woe is me pity party, I have no musical talent (not so amazing). I wish to Moses that I did… I live vicariously through the beats and artists that I love. I live to hear the sound (music) and it would be so dope to be able to see that sound for once-instead of relying on my ears for satisfaction. Good Luck everybody!

Can I be frank? I’m not all that amazing. I live my daily life in the hope that I will one day be/feel, if even “pretty much,” amazing. Getting to go to APW would certainly be a defining moment in my quest for cool.

I’m Pretty Much Amazing (and deserve these passes) because, well, I never miss a chance to go see the bands that I like. Whether that involves forgoing certain foods that I love/need (i.e. only eating half the usual amount) to save money, and earning money through experimental studies, I somehow always strive to find a way to go. Last year, before I even had a job (my current one) I won a contest and had the most amazing time of my life at APW. This year, although I do have a job, I have to use the income I earn to pay for college to minimize the amount of loans that I’d have to take out otherwise, so I’m a bit low (okay, very low) on funds. When my BF and I saw the lineup, we freaked out because so many of our favorite bands will be playing. Winning these tickets would be a dream come true, as cliche as that sounds. I don’t give a crap about all the smoke/pot/public restrooms, even though I’m somewhat allergic to smoke…this would be one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Oh, and I can type up to 120 wpm. And have performed (piano) at Carnegie Hall. Twice.

I’m pretty much amazing because I partied with Lil Jon in Vegas strip club and blew most of my money with just enough to get home. I believe in a Can’t Stop Won’t Stop way of life, going to back to back concerts out all night getting the most music and fun I can before my frail body gives up. I love music and the chance to see Tool live has me giddy with delight, as well as the chance to go to beautiful (maybe exagerated) new Jersey for the first time in my life from lil ole Calgary, AB, Canada. Make all these and more come true, and I will bring you some canadian beer and bacon!

i’m pretty much amazing because i’m simply myself. i may be from one of the smallest, more rural states (nh) but that doesn’t stop me from living my life out loud and how i want it to be. i’ve got a passion for music and have worked concerts ranging from the tragically hip to snoop dogg. i’ve made it a point to get awesome music to come & be heard here in the 603. i’ve got kids in jean overalls jamming out on a friday night to the newest britney remix, or blasting lady gaga & kid cudi down a dirt road. i’ve always wanted to attend a big festival as thats the area of concerts i want to work with in the future, but not many come close. winning this (to one of the closer of all the festivals) would be pretty much amazing for someone who is definitely amazing.

I’m Pretty Much Amazing because I fought a bear in a ten round boxing match on the top of Mt. Everest, after reaching the summit with the aid of naught but one of those elastic sticky hands that you slap onto windows. I won, but narrowly escaped the eruption of Mt. Everest by leaping into a helicopter. My helicopter was soon pursued by a Russian attack chopper, which I cleverly outwitted by landing in a river, tricking the Russian into thinking I was dead. At the last second, I pulled out a rocket launcher and blasted him through the broken windshield. The flaming wreckage of his helicopter fell into an open hole in the ground, eventually landing in and supplementing the fires of hell. I decided to follow, landing my helicopter on the ground floor of hell. I was greeted graciously, but my helicopter was soon destroyed by Satan’s minions. To save myself, I challenged him to a guitar duel. Satan and I rocked so hard that the walls of hell crumbled, revealing a host of Barbara Streisand robotic clones (living tissue over metal endoskeleton). Satan, shocked that his dominion had been a lie all along, started shattering cyborg faces with lasers from the top of his guitar, powered by insane riffs. Following his cue, I did the same. Together we battled our way through the mass of true evil, vaporizing robo-clones left and right. When the dust settled, we shook hands and parted ways. On my way home, I noticed sirens surrounding a burning building, in which several people were trapped. I saved them, with the help of several land-faring sharks (long story). In the end, I was presented with the key to the city amidst a ticker-tape parade featuring thousands of chimpanzees dressed in tiger costumes. I was distracted from the celebration for a short time in order to sing “Twist and Shout” with a few of my high-school buddies on the main float. We got a pretty good ovation, but it wasn’t half as loud as that time I defeated a massive force of invading aliens one year on July 4th. Welcome to Erf.

…and that’s why I’m pretty much amazing.

i like to think i’m pretty much amazing cos, 1- i’m the dumbass who decided to attempt writing why i’m amazing AFTER ^that guy (seriously, who can compete with that?). 2- i’m genuine. i’m 22 years old and don’t wear makeup, still listen to my momma, refuse to give other girls the stink-eye, would rather go to a show than out to a bar, and would rather listen to music than study throughout the last month of my college career. :}

I’m pretty much amazing because I haven’t shot the guy who is sitting next to me in the library in the face yet. Not only does he smell super gross; he’s watching random soccer videos on youtube with the volume up really high and he keeps jumping in his chair and making really loud noises at the screen.

It would be so easy to punch him in the side of his head, but I won’t, and I think that I deserve something for that, don’t you?

I am pretty much amazing because I once spent a snowy, winter night sleeping alone in an ATM in downtown Prague, and lived to tell the tale.

(oh yeah, and after getting my Macbook stolen right out of my sleeping arms in the process, with a little help from Skype and the police- I got it back from the bastard!)

i’m pretty much amazing because i’m a broke college student whose concert fund went from not enough to even less.

i’m currently living in los angeles and interning at interscope records for free. that means the homeless man dressed up as spiderman on hollywood boulevard makes more money than me. a three day pass to coachella is 2 months of gas and groceries so i’m already missing one amazing festival.

i’m driving home to the east coast for the summer and i’d love to go to all points west. plz?

I’m PMA because
Today is my 21st birthday and I want to go to Coachella but APW is closer (I’m from Philly)
I’ve never been to a music festival.
I’m from India and probably never get to see these bands ever again.

I’m PMA because I’m a college student on my third unpaid internship and I am dead broke and really want to see these bands. I’m studying photojournalism and am a DJ on the college radio station, please help me! I can try to get a photo pass too and you can use my photos on PMA! Sue Johanson once called me a stud.

I’m PMA because I once borrowed a pen from Joe Perry.

I’m also a broke college radio DJ who had a blast at APW last year, but lack the funds to go again this time around. I’m juggling being a Psychology/English major and trying to have some kind of social life at all.

Pretty please?

I’m pretty much amazing because I just accepted a job teaching in Russia, which –coincidentally!– is also why I deserve APW tickets, because I leave the US in mid-August, and APW will be basically my last chance to see some great shows for a LONG time, because, seriously, no one ever plays Russia.

I’m PMA, because I love music and the bands of APW so much that even though I can’t afford to buy an MP3 player, I still carry around a diskman, so I can listen to music all the time. AND APW is two days before my 21st birthday, and it would make a pretty much amazing birthday gift!

I’m Pretty Much Amazing I wake up every morning and get excited to write about music on my blog, 20 watts. It’s a college music magazine, and I’m the reviews editor. I’m pretty much amazing because I’m my own show at concerts. I leave it on the floor, and I drench my t-shirts. I’m pretty much amazing because at the last Girl Talk concert at Cornell, I wore the following: a green wife-beater, a read Adidas headband, yellow Sofie shorts and neon-green gloves with cut-off finger tips from Hot-Topic.

I posted all of this on Facebook and Twitter.
