Music Blog Master List

by Luis Tovar · 100 comments· 8,426 views

This is an adaption/continuation of this list.

Music bloggers/audio bloggers/MP3 bloggers/etc are people who are outspoken, love to talk about music, and want to share the obscure and unknown to the world. I praise these people because they input many hours a week to bring you (the reader) the best and newest in Music, may it be Indie, Jazz, Soul, Alt. Rock, or Polka, there is a blog for you. A Music blogger/audio blogger/MP3 blogger/etc is NOT a person who advocates or takes part of musical piracy advances. They provide an MP3 file free of charge to promote an artist they like, and more often than not, they take the file off when asked to. More experienced Music bloggers/audio bloggers/MP3 bloggers/etc provide links to the record label and the artist’s personal site.

Being a huge fan of Music Blogs, Pretty Much Amazing presents a list of music blogs divided up by taste or genre. I want this list to be utilized by music fans and unknown artists alike. Music fans, find your new passion. You might find some amazing music you never knew existed. Discerning artists, find blogs that fit your music and would you find an audience. Keeping track of this phenomenon isn’t easy so please accept my apologies if your Music Blog is not included, if you want your blog to be added, please leave a comment below.

NOTE: If you see your blog or want your blog up here, PMA would appreciate a link back (http://prettymuchamazing.com/) Thank you.

Now onto the list! To start things off here is the compilation of ECLECTIC blogs, or blogs that focus on various genres of music. (i.e. Pretty Much Amazing!)

Now for the SOUL/FUNK/R&B blogs:

Next up are the blogs devoted to HIP-HOP/REGGAETON.

Onto the JAZZ blogs:

Blogs who specialize in BLUES/FOLK/OLDTIMEY sound.

ROCK/POP/INDIE blogs who have made the scene:

The ELECTRIC/DJ/MASH-UP blogs:

Explore the artistic MINIMAL/EXPERIMENTAL sounds:

WORLD music blogs:

LABELS/STORES/RADIO STATIONS/NOT-FOR-PROFIT RECORDS, ETC that offer music online:

MP3 Blog AGGREGATORS:

I am sure there are tons of blogs not mentioned here, there are new blogs created daily! If you think your blog deserves to be up here, leave a comment below

Luis,

Quite a list of music blogs you’ve collected here. Please consider
Old Fart At Play for your list (http://bitemefanboy.wordpress.com/). On line since July 2006 we feature full album downloads of mainly indie, alternative and punk acts, but with a music collection that spans the last 45 years you never know what or who might show up.

Love to be included in the ‘eclectic’ list, and will happily reciprocate with a link.

Man, I always feel weird being like, “I has a blog! You can adds it plz?” Always in lolspeak, too.

Anyway: That 1 Pop! Gem

I guess you could say “eclectic,” but it’s probably more “rock/pop/indie.”

Hi Luis,

I’m sure you’ve got better things to be doing with your time but if you get a minute can you add Cassette Culture to your blog list? I imagine it will fall under your electric/dj/mashup section…

Cheers,
Tom

This is great… but all the comment-praise is confusing me. Half of the links I’ve clicked on have been dead links, or links to blogs that died months, even years ago. I’ll admit that it’s an impressively LONG list, but did anyone check these? Damn, it’s like 50% dead links. Maybe it’s just the Hip Hop and World categories; that’s what I’ve been checking.
And I swear it’s not just cuz I’m bitter about the obvious glaring mistake of leaving out MY blog. ;)

26 Lars-Christian January 14, 2009 at 8:41 pm

This is pretty much an amazingly large list. I have no idea how anyone could actually keep track of all of these sites and blogs that Lily Kane suggests that you should, but from time to time it might be an idea to clean it up. Would probably have to be a team effort though.

Of course, I have a motive for commenting other than just giving out compliments as well, so feel free to check out Silent Sound Waves, which my name links to. I think it would make a good addition to the list ;)

Hello,

I really like your comprehensive list of music blogs. I can see that much work has gone into getting it together. When you have the time would it be possible to add my cool site please, perhaps in the prog rock category or just rock. Thanks. My site offers rare, deleted and out of print material.

Thank you for your time

Ninu nina is a lifestyle blog created for today’s demanding and discerning international pop culture audience that is highly invested in stylistic trends.
We cover music, events, art and entertainment and have an appetite for what’s new.
We interview and profile mainly New York based personalities, “influencers about town” that are creatively exposed that work play, travel and bring with them unique tastes and perceptions of the world.
We want to stay ahead of the shifts in taste and of the choices of our audience and aim to become a reference point of choice for the latest in what’s going on. In less than one year we have established ourselves within our niche while quickly developing a strong audience through word of mouth, search engines and facebook.
