A.C. Newman might be best known for his work with the Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers, but the songwriter also has a prolific solo career characterized by the excellent pop songwriting you’ll be totally familiar with if you’re a fan of his day job. His newest single is “I’m Not Talking,” and it’s the first cut from his just-announced record Shut Down the Streets, his first since 2009. We’ve always been a fan of Newman’s knack with horns, strings, and interwoven male-female harmonies, and “I’m Not Talking” shows all that off in kind: the end product is a perfectly melancholy pop cut for the end of summer. Check it out – Shut Down the Streets drops sometime this fall. Download the mp3 HERE.
