Jamie XX has delivered too many awesome remixes to count only twenty-some days into 2011, one of them being a reworking of Adele’s great-on-its-own “Rolling In the Deep,” and because you can’t pass up a jam with those shuffling claps and heartbeat bass drum, actor Donald Glover laid down some verses over the top under his nom de rap, Childish Gambino.
His verse doesn’t start until the song’s last half, but it’s better than I expected – quick, cutting, smart, articulate, mocking an ex who’s new boyfriends are “Michael Cera knockoffs,” it really adds a little edge to the track. Check it out.
