Psychedelic folk rockers Akron/Family are set to release their fifth LP in six years, the awesomely titled Akron/Family II: The Cosmic Birth And Journey Of Shinju TNT. Their second album for Dead Oceans reocrds, the post-freak outfit apparently recorded it in a deserted cabin in Hokkaido, Japan, near an active volcano. “So It Goes” is the fourth track on the record, an aggressive hard hitter that transforms into a soft, acoustic jam towards the end. Lead vocalist Seth Olinksy make a similar alteration, his vocals raging at first along the experimental vibes, and than quiet and soothing, oozing with a certain spaced out dreaminess. Produced by Chris Koltay, whose worked with the likes of Deerhunter and Liars, the full length comes out February 8.
