As if hyper-buzzy Harlem rapper ASAP Rocky couldn’t pick up any more internet acclaim after the release of his latest mixtape LiveLoveA$AP (one of our favorite mixtapes of 2011), pop-culturally voracious remixer Star Slinger has served up his re-imagination of Rocky’s most recent inescapable gem “Peso.”
The key word here is reimagination – we don’t know what happened to the space-y beat and druggy flow of the original, because Star Slinger serves up a version that’s pitch-shifted and sped up beyond recognition into a throbbing, super-catchy club banger, a track way more appropriate for the dance floor than baking out your mom’s station wagon.
