It’s no secret that Beach House’s January release Teen Dream is one of 2010’s best records –- the band are finally getting the attention and praise they deserve for crafting their unique brand of calm dream-pop. Capping off a banner year, the band released a holiday song today, “I Do Not Care for the Winter Sun.” It’s one of their shorter numbers (and longer titles), but it packs that characteristic Beach House punch, like watching the sun set over the ocean, like putting out candles. Victoria Legrand’s voice is as soaring and sublime as it is on the best tracks on “Teen Dream,” her organ and Alex Scally’s guitar effortlessly weaving together. Listen and download below:
