Couldn’t have picked a better list. The only album on here I haven’t heard is Robyn. i just wish Elbow’s The Seldom Seen Kid was present. Glasvegas’ self-titled debut was pretty damn good too. I just recently got into Hercules and Love Affair and I’m glad to see them on here as well.

Dear Science has my number 1 pick here, I liked it better than Cookie Mountain, and I think DLZ overtook Wolf Like Me as TVotR’s “best song.” Fleet Foxes are a close second for me. Deerhunter, MGMT and Vampire Weekend were all great too.

while Oracular Spectacular produced more memorable singles, Time to Pretend, Electric Feel, & Kids (all 3 in my top 10 of 08), Vampire Weekend’s self titled album was perfect from start to finish.

Deerhunter’s “Microcastle” is the clear #1 for me, one of my all-time favorite records. TV on the Radio would come next, then MGMT. Not even having of Montreal’s “Skeletal Lamping” on the list is a glaring omission.

And I listened to Vampire Weekend’s debut plenty when it first came out, but best record of 2008? Absolutely not.

Then again, I think PMA has always had some sort of obsession with her.

Bon Iver’s “For Emma, Forever Ago” is my runner-up for album of the decade. But I feel that my pick would be robbed yet again. Come on, surprise me.

Great Job putting this list together, for me 07 and 08 have to be the strongest years. This has been such a great segment thank you! =] But………………..

Would have liked:
Santigold (top ten for pazz & jop)
Hold Steady (Same as above – and an amzing album!!!!!!!!)
Cut Copy (For me as amazing a pop album as Vampire Weekend)

BTW Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, TV On The Radio, Portishead and MGMT all the way. How can you choose just one of them!!!!!!

Fleet Foxes, hands down. There are so few bands musically that still write like this. Most modern bands can’t compare with Crosby Stills Nash & Young or Simon & Garfunkel or the Mamas & the Papas, yet the Fleet Foxes’ songs seem to blend right in with their 40-year-old counterparts.

Every song is a wonderful step along an amazing journey.

ugh, sorry about that error.. i’m reopening it now.

Also, concerning the comments about Santigond’s absence — I, and most critics, believe that Santigold’s debut was a scatter shot of an album, albeit a great scatter shot album. Robyn’s album was tight and cohesive and in almost every way superior to Santigold’s album.
