Mississippi hero has become the rapper to beat this year. Since releasing last year’s breakthrough mixtape K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, he’s gained a steady following who enjoy his raw, insightful lyrics, formidable production skills, and humble demeanour.

His most recent tape, ReturnOf4Eva, was entirely self produced and contains some of the grimiest Southern anthems released since Three 6 Mafia’s The Most Known Unknown.

The prolific M.C. had recently announced that he would be dropping his full length studio debut – since signing to Def Jam – this September, but not before putting out a new mixtape, the sequel to 2009′s The Last King, entitled Last King 2: God’s Machine. The first preview of the tape has just surfaced, and features frequent collaborator and Shady Records signee on a heavily jazz and soul influenced K.R.I.T.-produced beat.

Download “Happy Birthday Hip Hop” below and stay tuned for more news on Last King 2; K.R.I.T.’s Def Jam debut, Live From The Underground, drops September 27th.
