Blog Wars: The Genius Playlist | Round 1, Battle 4

Earlier this week, Ear Farm and The Culture of Me took on Lil Wayne’s “Dr. Carter” in two surprisingly different Genius Playlists. The Culture of Me‘s versatile, somewhat alternative (Cool Kids, Beastie Boys, Jurassic 5, Lupe Fiasco, etc) playlist came on top with 60% of the votes! I’m sorry Ear Farm, but the voters have booted you out!

On this fourth battle, we’re pairing up Arjan Writes and Nialler9. This time I’ve ask my friends to create a genius playlist on the most confusing song of 2008: “Human.” I was really excited to see what these two came up with for the Killers’ jam. What didn’t surprise me was that neither of their playlists disappoint. These two lists are the best we’ve seen yet, and the hardest vote so far.

Read on to vote for your favorite Genius Playlist! Remember: Vote or Die!

No way, Arjan Writes’ list is definitely the best — I see so many underrated artists on it (Kenna, The Bird and The Bee, Roisin Murphy) — woot! It’s good to see these names getting some recognition!

Got to give it to Arjan for getting Kenna in there. Also, Nialler9 has a DJ AM remix in the library? Really? Can’t wait to see what our next match-up will be. We’re still sort of stunned that we beat Ear Farm.

Nialler had me sold at Tokyo Police Club, no doubt. Actually, a plethora of my most favourite songs are on that playlist. 7/4 Shoreline, Your Ex-Lover Is Dead, Bruises, A&E, Kids, and Bruises. This was a hands-down win for me.

Arjan for having Roisin and Kenna on his list.

Arjan, I had to go with!
I love “Human,” by The Killers, and he included awesome songs like “Rock Wit U,” by Janet Jackson, and one of my favorites, “Buildings & Mountains” from The Republic Tiger’s Keep Color album.

I do have to give Nialler9 kudos for the MGMT love on his playlist. “Weekend Wars” is a timeless song!

Great lists for both, but gotta give it to Arjan on this one.

Can’t wait for my next song / round!

does anyone know if there is any truth in the rumour that ikey owens has come out? i suppose it’s none of our business either way but was just wondering if it is some jerk spreading shit or if he really has. The Mars Volta are the best band of this whole crappy “instant pop” generation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
