Blog Wars: The Genius Playlist | Round 1, Battle 5(!)

Click on the turntable on the left to listen to a continuous stream of music featured on Pretty Much Amazing - updated every day. For more, you can check out the Best Songs of 2011, or our Best Albums of 2011.

On the last Blog Wars Battle, two blogs named after their respective bloggers, Arjan Writes and Nialler9 went head to head on one of our favorites of 2008 — the Killers’ “Human.” Both presented worthy playlists, but Nialler9 had the edge, taking 56% of the votes, leaving Arjan out in the cold. It was a close one, but only Nialler9 will make it to the second round.

On this last Battle of the first Round, Music Is Art takes on blog superstar and juggernaut (oh, how I love hyperbole) PMA! You didn’t think I’d organize this war and not throw in a few punches myself, did you? You obviously don’t know me at all. Anyway, the song in question is M.I.A.’s “Boyz” and we all know how this goes…

Luis, I love you, but Music is Art won me over with Peaches’ “Operate”

Haha, I highly doubt PMA is going to lose this one.

Went with PMA this time. It’s crazy you somehow fit Madonna, Yelle, and Princess Superstar on the same list!

Is the score really 64 to 36? Really? C’mon people, both lists are really great, it should be close! Don’t vote for PMA just bc you’re on it right now :P

I voted PMA but it was a tough call! I really dug Bjork, Ghostland Observatory & Air on the MIA list, but the second one is so solid

How about next time you leave out whose playlist is whose, so people wouldn’t vote just for the blog’s name, but for the playlist’s content?
How about it, eh?

PMA!, if only for “Kim & Jessie”.

I agree with thedrums–a “blind taste test” is the only way to go and this way PMA won’t have home turf advantage throughout this entire battle.

I actually like this idea…

i think round two will be 100% blind taste test.

I was going to vote Music Is Art for having Hot Chip and Peaches, then saw that PMA had two of my absolute favourites from these artists. xD
