Blonds, the project of young couple Cari Rae Woodfield and Jordy Asher, is probably the most interesting and inventive new band you’ll hear today. Their first real EP Dark Roots is a really fascinating mélange of alt-country-esque folk-pop with catchy, poppy electronic elements.

Nowhere is that more evident than on “K.O.,” which starts off with Woodfield as a lounge singer channeling Amy Winehouse over tender piano riffs, before breaking out into poppy, upbeat, almost psychadelic territory with plenty of reverberated guitar and dual vocals. All in all, it’s effortless, lovestruck fun, perfect for the holiday mixtape you’ll burn for your crush. Check it out, and stay tuned for more from the band.
