are back after five long years with their fifth full-length studio album entitled Forgiveness Rock Record due out May 4th on Arts & Crafts. Their album is once again being produced by John McEntire, who has also worked with acts like Bright Eyes and The Fiery Furnaces in the past.

To tide you over until May, Broken Social Scene are giving away the Forgiveness Rock Record‘s epic seven minute long first single, “World Sick”. You can download it below:

are you guys serious? world sick makes me sick. I am a fan of their older material but this sounds so boring. I hope the rest of the new album is better than this.

I read somewhere that Amy Millan, Emily Haines, and Leslie Feist recorded a song together for the record. The first time the three have ever been on one track. So that’s something to look forward to…

but I loved “World Sick” though, so I’m in good shape.

I’m a fan. And rather than have their entire, (what? 13 piece) band, they narrowed it down to six members? I think that’s a good thing for this upcoming album and their overall sound.
