The Tough Alliance’s Eric Berglund dropped a remix EP of cuts from White Magic, his 2010 record under his nom-de-Balearic-pop ceo, late last year in his native Scandinavia, but it’s just surfacing across the pond now. You can check out one of the highlights from the accurately titled White Magic Epilogue EP right now.
Dan Lissvik (of Studio)’s take on “Illuminata,” amps up Berglund’s vocals and playful, bubbling Balearic synth riffage to great effect – his take lacks the original’s busy layering and sampling, presenting the simple, smart pop songcraft buried beneath it all clear as day. Listen up.
