Seriously, these guys are the ILLEST! I’d describe them, but they seem to be the best at describing themselves: “Chiddy Bang is a four piece hip-hop/electronica outlet from Philadelphia. Currently attending their first year of college, they posses a musical maturity that is far superior to the teen-pop cliché. Chiddy Bang blends hard hitting lyricism from front man Chidera “Proto” Anamege, original electronica afro-beat and jazz influenced production from keyboardist Noah Beresin and drummer Zach Sewall, and additional production and vocals from guitarist Pat Braz.”
These guys are really in their first year of college? Damn. They can easily school half of the rap groups out there today. I tried to pick a couple of songs from the 5 that I have, but I couldn’t, so I’ll just share all 5. I suggest to start off with “Sooner or Later,” it’s the best way to ready yourself for the trip you’re about to take. “Sooner or Later” is an exemplary range of sounds that make it sound as modern as it does timeless. “Ice Cream Man” follows suit, but picks it up a notch by taking a couple of tips from the Gospel of Kanye by sampling the Tom Waits classic by the same name. “On Our Way” sounds exactly how I wish Weezy’s rock album would sound. “Fresh Like Us” starts off with a grinding electro beat that reminds me a bit of Gifted’s “Come With Me” and is filled with Cool Kids-like swagger and likability. I’ve saved the best for last, naturally. If you were to check out just one of Chiddy Bang’s tracks, it better be “Because.” This song is probably the most prolific hip-hop record I’ve heard in 2009. Chiddy Bang also puts Kid Cudi’s so-indie sampling to shame by sampling Radiohead’s “Reckoner,” so beautifully that even as a huge Radiohead fan, I’m a little proud. It really doesn’t get any better than that.

These kids are great! Thanks for the info. I’m really surprised that they haven’t been found sooner. Check out tcontheradio.blogspot.com
Fuck, that last track sampling Radiohead is the bombdigity.com!
Damn PMA, you guys have been on your shit lately, calling all kinds of bands.. Tigersapien, Timid Tiger, Gifted, and now Chiddy Bang! Whoa, is this the Gorilla vs Bear of pop music?
HOT DAMN! I can’t believe these guys aren’t EVERYWHERE by now.
Yeaaaaa. This is PJo of Gifted. These guys are the real deal. Love their shit.

I should slap u for comparing Chiddy to Travie, i should give you an atomic neck for that kid
Chiddy Bang is one of the best hip hop acts I’ve ever heard. The beats are INCREDIBLE!!!

Very Shwayze/Gym Class Heroes but with much hotter beats. Go crazy for that electronica
Man I love their sound, good looks on the post. Can you re-up the links because for some reason I can’t download any of the songs
The beats are awesome, the sampling is brilliant, but the lyrics I love most of al. These guys are incredible, thanks so much.

SICK article i can bump dis EVERYDAY! dun noe
C’mon y’all, these kids have a nice polish for starting out, but this jank is kinda whack. Beats are too simple, which works for the Cool Kids but not for electronica. Choruses are too pop. Never liked Gym Class Heroes either, and if you think they’re like them but with better beats, beats were never GCH’s problem. The ideas are there, the execution is too bubblegum for my tastes. I hope they go more in the direction of “Ice Cream Man” and “Because” if they continue. It’s cool they like and respect electro, they just probably don’t need to be making it.
As for the article, “This song is probably the most prolific hip-hop record I’ve heard in 2009.” Prolific is not a word that just means good, it has a meaning and does not make sense in college. Get a dictionary. “even as a huge Radiohead fan, I’m a little proud.” What?
Chiddy Bang are awesome – I play their shit is always in my set over here in Liverpool, England (home of the Beatles, etc). Goes down really well, especially Because. Guys, if you’re listening, start hitting up those UK festivals!
wow i didnt realize they were this popular all ready. I go to school with them, even lived in the same dorms as some of them, and saw them play at battle of the bands night, theyre amazing.
the song sampled in fresh like us is ce jeu by yelle.

Kids, Truth, Fresh Like Us, Danger Zone, and Never, are all ILLL, howd you leave some of em out?
They opening for KID CUDI here at Emory in March!
I first listened to Chiddy Bang yesterday. I’m now desperately hooked.
They have sampled so many of my favorite artists (Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, MGMT to name a few). Something I will play and tell my friends about. Talent + Sick Beats.
classified sampled ice cream man before them too
When dis album commin ooooooooooooooooooooooouuouut

http://neongoldrecords.com/blog/jams/chiddybang_utsrmx.mp3
I been cool with Proto ever since he moved to our area, &I just wanna express how proud of him I am ! Everyone claims to be something or to have some special talent, but you never know who’s actually gonna do something with it. I’m so happy for my friend I wish him nothing but the best….love you Chiddy !
Ahh man I hate these fucking posers.
They rap about being better than Asher Roth
I mean wtf they dont even know him but they bash him anyway?
Also theyve not made it that big but apparently there “ripping up shows”
These guys think they are way better than they really
dude this are the shit.. i listen to them all damn day.. imma attend their college to hit them up
dude they are the shit.. i listen to them all damn day.. imma attend their college to hit them up
dude they are the shit.. i listen to them all damn day.. imma attend their college to hit em up
They kill it in every song and their sample choices are so solid. Plus, in response to LLiiness, they actually are “ripping up shows.” I saw them open for Kid Cudi at Lafayette a few days ago, and when they did Kids (the last song of their set), the reaction was easily as excited and intense as it was for anything Cudi himself did. They were great live.
his flow is nearly as good a the man b.i.g i cant wait 2 here more hes gna be huge! make rhymes for days
Naija in the building again.
the grinding electro beat that starts off in “Fresh like us” is a song called ce jeu by yelle
Please Clarify: Aren’t some members of Chiddy Bang the same people who update Pretty Much Amazing? Cos if so, then you’re self-marketing, right???
chiddy bang is the shit
love em!
chiddy bang hoory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out College Magazine’s interview with Chiddy! http://bit.ly/9dlHUy
Chiddy Bang came to their hometown– Philly — and to Q102!! Check out th 3 videos of interviews and performances they did with Maxwell. It’s actually funny as hell.

Chiddy Bang’s music may be fun for a minute, but it’s so cheesy to use simple, blatant samples from current music to ride of their noteriety. Cheap and unoriginal.
I’m sorry but if these guys become any more than a flash in the pan, that will say how pathetic the current musical audience is…
Its prety much amazing how these guy got discoverd by Blackthought. I gave him a demo, but never got a record deal. Congrats.
