chiddy baaaaang… and they’re pretty much amazing. epic photo by dylan barnes. click to enlarge.
I hinted to this via Twitter yesterday afternoon! I kept my mouth shut, but here it is — a new Chiddy Bang track! Cue roaring applause. This new song the boys hit me up with is called “Truth” and its one step closer to that as-of-yet untitled summer mixtape Chiddy Bang promised us. “Truth” stays true to the Chiddy Bang new school sample form and tackles one of my favorite Passion Pit songs, “Better Things” off the Chunk of Change EP. And you know what? The electronic reworks on this track are outstanding. You will find yourself bobbing along to this within a few seconds, trust me.
I haven’t had this much fun with samples since I first heard A Kid Named Cudi and fell in love “CuDi Spazzin’,” sampling N.E.R.D., “Maui Wowie” sampling Grind Mode and “The Prayer,” sampling the fantastic Band of Horses. Subsequently, I have fallen in love with Chiddy Bang’s unforgettable “Kids” sampling MGMT, “Fresh Like Us” sampling Yelle, and now “Truth.” As many of you already know, Chiddy Bang are down right a hipster wet dream. You can count on hearing “Kids” and “Truth” all summer long.

Bangin’. I’m feelin the kind of b-more club thing.
i havnt even listened to the track yet. but im absolutley fuckin overjoyed. chiddy bang ripping up one of the best passion pit songs is the sex.
Daaaamn, man when U told me yesterday I assumed it would be a more well known passion pit song, this kicks major ass
This is fantastic! These guys are def going places… when’s that mixtape dropping?
This is really hot, but it doesn’t touch “Kids”… that song is going to be the song of the summer!
All of Chiddy Bang’s songs are fucking awesome
when is that mixtape gonna come?! Theyre about to blow the fuck up
nice job guys. are you guys gonna try one without a sample?
@Henry why should they? kanye uses samples on almost all of his tracks and he’s called a genius for it. I call Passion Pit hipster geniuses for making these samples work so fucking well.
I am pretty much in love with these guys.
great stuff. is pma gonna post the mixtape?
very good songs. chiddy bang is one of my favorite music groups of hip hop.
greetings from mexico city!
awesome shit, these guys blow me away.
and henry, there is absolutely nothing wrong with sample-based hip hop, especially when it’s this dope
Hell, I WANT them to keep sampling. It kicks ass, would rock if most of the mistape was like this
shit is a banger. Chiddy about to blow up
“High on a scale, If I nail, Girls said it/ I am well endowed like Harvard and Yale.”
Not sure about the how correct I am about that first line, but I know I got the last line up there right.
And it is incredible.
i fully support this
i completely agree with comment 14, that line sold this track for me. And then the icing on the the cake was, “periodically I’m in my element, phosphorus” simple, and well put together.
I wish the song lasted just a little bit longer, and honestly I hope they begin to broaden their horizons just a little, but no doubt I’ve been a fan from day one. Chidera and co are def going places, Mo Gbono Feli Feli, THEY WILL HOLD YOU FOR RANSOM!!! haha
I ♥ NEW SCHOOL SAMPLING
I ♥ TRUTH
I ♥ CHIDDY BANG
While this is certainly an improvement on their last released track, I continue to wait for a fully fledged, full-out rap from Chiddy Bang.
Chiddy Bang…you guys kill it. I came across you randomly while searching on YouTube which led me to downloading your mix tape, Swelly Express. I've been passing that tape on to everyone I know. Everyone's digging it!
I'm the co-founder to the website Leftos.com and I know how it is trying to start something from scratch. Just wanted to tell you guys to keep it up. No matter what gets in your way, don't stop. There's always doubters but respect them because they're the ones that make it that much sweeter when you do big things!
Goodluck and mad respect
