Donald Glover’s first record as Childish Gambino, Camp, was one of our favorites of last year, but dude’s taking hardly any time off, leaking a healthy dose of brand new, unattached tracks on the internet. “Black Faces,” featuring some production help from Boi-1da (Drake, Eminem) and a guest verse from Nipsey Hu$$le, follows up the ScHoolboy Q-featuring “Unnecessary” and Das Racist/Heems collaboration “Tell Me.” We might be into “Black Faces” the most, though – Glover and Nipsey delve smartly into issues of race and class (not to mention the hip-hop standards of money, haters, and struggle) over a fantastic, atmospheric beat (we particularly love when it drops out from under the words “coast guard”). Check it out.
In case you couldn’t already tell, Childish Gambino will drop a new mixtape very soon.
