Childish Gambino is working hard trying to convince his critics to take him seriously. The latest attempt is a track (from his forthcoming, still untitled mixtape) called “Silk Pillow” which, amazingly, features a quasi-rapping Beck. In just a few weeks, Gambino has dropped tracks with other famous friends, like “Unnecessary” with ScHoolboy Q and “Tell Me” with Heems. Sometimes it seems like hip hop is built around cosigns, and right now Gambino is getting some pretty fantastic off-kilter ones, I guess we’ll see how it goes.
