It’s a great site to find new songs from artists I know and haven’t heard yet. It would be cool if there were articles on older artists (The Smiths, Talking Heads, Television, XTC etc.) talking about their legacies and influence on current musical trends. Not sure if anyone else would enjoy that but I would find it interesting to see your take on it.

I love the site- my only grievance is that I have really particular music I like and you post a lot of the exact opposite (i.e. Jay Z, Lady Gaga, especially Kanye) but that’s clearly more my problem than yours. I dig Bon Iver and TV on the Radio though.

I don’t mind spending every day
reading this blog out on the pouring rain
look for the news on the latest song
PMA can never do me any wrong

I honestly don’t use blogs at all, but PMA has really opened up eyes to this world. I love going on here and seeing what awesome new songs, covers, etc you have posted to listen to. I love that its eclectic and offers some awesome choices. Keep it up and I can honestly say the only complaint i have is that i wish some of the links weren’t dead cause I want to own everything you post!

Somehow or another I stumbled upon PMA and from that moment on I was hooked. Best. Find. Ever. PMA gets me, and I get PMA. It’s that simple. Even with these past few contests, I find that the things given away are the same things I have been coveting at urbanoutfitters. Coincidence? Probably not. Thanks so much for making PMA truly amazing.

Love the site… from a graphic design point of view: the choice of font is simple yet hip and unique, the colours and images are great and the way the whole site just comes off as simplistic and hip is great.
As for the music reviews… it’s great to be able to find new songs/albums by liked artists. Always good to hear other opinions, even if they may not be shared.
Overall… very insighful and loving it!

I know PMA since two months and I really enjoy it ! Your advise about songs are great and not cut without any argumentation ! I really like to come every day and see some tracks of my favorites artists I never heard before ! It could be cool to add some anecdotes about singers or songs ! It would be great :) And Why not a little bit more of electro :)

I am still entirely unsure as to how you obtain so many amazing remixes, but keep it up! If there was a way to donate to you, I’m sure people wouldn’t mind sparing a few bucks — even bloggers gotta eat!

You are keeping me up on the trend of the hottest tracks. You are totally in my top 5 bookmarks (next to Facebook and Craigslist!)

I honestly love this blog. I feel so grand that i can get great music here. I am always wanting more and more music to listen to, and you mostly have the same music interest as I do. I’ve tried to find other blogs to find more, but I haven’t really found anything that has really drawn me in as much. Your blog and a few other blogs actually make me want to start a blog when i have time. I really like your music album reviews. I’ve noticed you’ve done some recently that are great, but before Kanye, Britney, Killers, and Common’s albums came out you rarely did them. Keep it up.

I absolutely love your site! it really is pretty much amazing! hah, but seriously, I really enjoy the variety of music you cover, such a nice variety from indie to remixes to hiphop, etc etc etc. I really appreciate that it doesn’t play all of the typical same-sounding music many other music blogs seem to post. (also love your website design hehe, I am little bit of a design nerd)

PMA is one of those sites that you know is great from the first visit; i accidently stumbled upon it and instantly bookmarked it! Your different types of posts are great, the reviews, contests, and the remixes are ear candy. I would say maybe try and find some other way to include fans and readers into a new segment on the site. Besides that I will continue to be a viewer/reader/fan of PMA!!

I like this blog, especially because of it’s treatment of pop music – neither scolded nor overly-revered, it seeks to find a proper middle ground. You have a spot in my google feed reader, but I do wish that you would better-format parts of the site, and I do not know how I feel about all of the new contributors.

I love this Pretty Much Amazing because you usually post all of my favorite artists- along with remixes of their songs- so I never get tired of their music and get to discover it in new ways. Best music blog ever.

What I love about PMA is the speed with which you get your hands on new and frequently awesome stuff. I love the clean site (re)design and the “thinking man’s take” posts. Cool to hear some non bs about the industry.

I’d love to see a little more variety. One can only take so many hard-ons for Kanye, Britney, and Justice.

Great great job though. And I’m not just saying that cause I want that camera.

Pretty Much Amazing is a tight place to find both music and music news. I think more music would make the site better but I understand that it would make the blog more likely to get shut down. Also making more of the downloads without Z Share. If you could include some posts on the side with just tracks so you wouldn’t really need to write about everything. Overall, this blog is not amazing but pretty much amazing. if this blog was a girl, i would fack it.

Pretty Much Amazing… is exactly what its title proclaims itself to be. I’ve been a long-time reader. Even before the wonderful addition of TLA (The Leakage Avenue, as some of you might still remember. Which met its demise all too soon!), I have enjoyed daily check-ups to this site. The music that is featured here is exactly the music I rock out to on a typical weekend (who am I kidding, I rock out to this shit 24/7!). To be honest, the only improvements I could suggest to you, Luis, would be for you to keep on track with your “weekly” categories (GG vs. 90210, and College Music Program), and suggest that you, or your other columnists take a few extra minutes proof-reading before publishing. This has spun out into a much longer comment that I had hoped for, so I’m sorry if this was excessive, haha! Anyway, keep up this amazing work. You know we will all be checking in, no matter what! Oh, and I also wanted to say how much I love the ever-changing PMA top banner, and the more-than-occasional site layout reformatting. It’s just another thing to entice me into checking back more than 7x a week!

Reply

BObyC December 16, 2008 at 12:58 am

Pretty Much Amazing is the best site on the interwebs. It’s better than google. Let me ask you this. Does google have a chill ass banner at the top? No, but PMA does. Point proven.

I’m pretty new to the site and so far for me it’s totally living up to it’s name! I’ll be able to give some more constructive feedback when I’ve been around longer I’m sure… but for now, keep doing your thing!

PMA is the ill. I’ve basically just found that there is a world of rad pro remixes and new music leaks floating out here in the ethernet, and prettymuchamazing.com is now my only bookmark. I put it there thinking I might forget the site’s name, which would be a shame. But I hella didn’t. Props to my memory, and to your making the site have a sweeeeet name. Another plus: unlike some other music blogs (yes, I have visited others), PMA projects a “Hey, this music is tight and fun and so is this site!! Exclamation points all around!!!” sort of vibe, rather than a morose “i’m a hipster.” thang. Nice work.

Reply

Kon December 16, 2008 at 1:34 am

Sorry I did’t read what is necessary to take part in the competition, I’m the same person with the above one.

The thing that I most like about PMA is that you are excited about the music you post and this is kinda like having friends and wanting them to learn about new music that you have heard and liked.

On the other hand, the thing I would like to change is for you to post more songs of artists like TV On The Radio and less of Britney Spears. Or equally amount of songs.

That’s It! Thanks a lot. (And as I said before: Great Gifts).

Robin December 16, 2008 at 1:45 am

I don’t really want to win, but I would like to just encourage something other than remixes and hip-hop. Whenever you guys talk about something that isn’t a contest or an interesting article about the music industry, it always seems about hip-hop or remixes! So maybe some talk of new bands?

Reply

Gala December 16, 2008 at 2:11 am

Contrary to the dude above me, I say… MORE HIP HOP & REMIXES! Haha. You can’t please everyone, so just do whatever makes you happiest. The passion will come through. I love this blog & think you do a shit-hot, bang-up, supercalifragilisticexpealidocious (ummm) job. I would also really, really, really like to win that camera, & I just gave away 13 days worth of stuff on my blog so I feel like I am due something in return! Hahah. Anyway whatever. You’re awesome. Well done.

Sarah December 16, 2008 at 3:04 am

I like this site, and it’s one of the blogs I visit pretty much regularly.
It’s cool that you feature the more “indie” and less known type of music, as well as pop and rap. You keep it more eclectic than other blogs and I find this appealing as someone who is always into discovering new music, but also staying on top of current pop culture.
So my only suggestion would be to continue doing what you’re doing, and if you’d like to take it to the next level so just to cover more of the current mainstream hits that leak, but to also cover more of the underground bands that are a little rockier, grungier, edgier and refreshing.
So yeah, to sum it up, this blog is pretty much amazing. :)

I LOVE that you’re willing to admit that you like Kanye West as much as he deserves to be liked. Your wide-ranging taste (NASA, Hot Chip, and Britney all on the front page right now!) is unique among blogs, but I usually agree with your style.

Uh, well done. And these three albums are absolutely 3 of the best of the year.

Basically, I’m jealous. PMA is a usually well-written, informative blog that showcases modern music, remixes, and music news. It spans genres, age groups, and covers everything I like and exposes me to things I’ve never heard of.

Plus you clearly get heaps of free shit.

I like PMA, a lot. As far as suggestions – this is superminor, but I liked the old layout where you (well, I) didn’t have to click through to get to the downloads. I’m surfing at work and this computer is slower than mud – so anything that adds a step can be frustrating. But – having said that – it’s SO not a big deal.

My favorite part of your blog has to be the album reviews. They’re really insightful and make me want to listen to an album even if I had no prior interest in it. The music that you post is almost perfectly in line with my musical taste, which keeps me coming back. I’m not huge on the indie bits, but it seems to work for you and make the blog more well rounded.
My only negative criticism is that I’ve been reading this blog for a few years and I have yet to win a contest! Hahaha Help a brother out!

First of all, you’re great for holding the contests all the time. That’s always fun to participate in, so thank you for that.

As for opinions on the site – I love the layout/style of the actual site. I also like that you say what you feel, even if it isn’t 100 percent positive. As for the music side, I would say what I prefer is usually about 50 percent of what is linked. I am not usually a huge remix person, but I do enjoy some. There have been a couple of really nice finds – people that I had not previously heard of, and for that, obviously, I’m always appreciative. So, overall, keep up the good work, and thanks again for these contests!

Pretty Much Amazing is not “pretty much” amazing..infact, its amazingly amazing! :D I love coming here to check out the blogs, reviews, downloads and the yearly lists. This website is user friendly & that’s what makes it so unique!

I appreciate the way the disclaimer runs. “Pretty Much Amazing encourages and believes in buying music.” I’ve barely come across blogs who post that. Infact, when I first came here, I thought, “Whoa! Here’s another blog giving out illegal mp3s” . Then I read, “Pretty Much Amazing promotes good music and posts tracks for fans to sample” That’s the line that stopped me from clicking the lil “x” @ top of the screen. But on exploring the website, I’ve discovered MUCH more. Your blog is pure brilliance. I appreciate your works & the efforts gone into creating this.

I do not care much about winning (tho, it would be cool if i did!) I took this contest coz it gave me an opportunity to give you my heartfelt congratulations & well wishes, for having maintained PMA through the years.

Good luck in everything you do with the blog. PMA remains #1 for me.

The remixes, the new tracks and artists that you put up here are crazy! I really love everything!
Most people may say that you make artists lose money by putting up music here but that is wrong if you ask me. I haven’t bought this much music since I started to glance through post after post here and discovering new artists! Keep making reviews!

Thank you Luis Tovar, for making my day every day!

I found this place because of your Gossip Girl vs. 90210 posts, haha. But I’ve stuck around and really appreciate the time you put into finding interesting stuff to post. I dig the posts that don’t necessarily focus on an artist, like the Pitchfork or Hype Machine articles from a few days (weeks?! time is flying…) ago. I like that you’re not an indie snob either and post stuff about Britney. Hey if it’s good, it’s good right?
(But more Gossip Girl vs. 90210 posts would be A+)

PMA, along with pigeonsandplanes, is my top source for new music and industry news. I cannot tell you enough how nice it is to be able to hear such a great selection of new tunes, especially because I get a chance to expand my library with new artists.

All i can say is keep doing what you’re doing!!!!!!

I love PMA! This is a really rad blog and I love all the songs and remixes you have on here, especially the Kanye mixtape and the Killed by Synth mixtape as well! This is a super awesome camera and I hope to get it haha, as well as the vinyl because those are really good ones to come across, too!

Keep up the blogging and thanks for enlightening me on these great additions to my iTunes :D

I honestly love this blog. I come here every day most importantly because I appreciate how you don’t just stick to the typical ‘cool’ music that every other blog focuses on. I mean i love friendly fires, chromeo and all that stuff but i also love britney beyonce n kanye – your blog is a paradox, like me and everyone on this planet. no1 is one genre, whether they admit it or not is another thing.

Love the work you do and if there was anything I would improve it would be to maybe include more video releases or mixtapes? Honestly your blog is perfect in my eyes but I guess everything can be improved on.

Keep up the awesome work and we will all keep coming back! :)

PMA is one of my best finds for non-electro music. It has a lot of music from an indie/indie-pop genre. It’s a great place to expand a library of music to even farther reaches, along with learning about the industry at times and maybe even win a prize in a contest.

Quality, consistency, and nothing but the best free. I can always trust when browse your blog that I will discover something new and something amazing. Mixes, tracks, and all of that are little. pieces that brighten that day a little more. Keep churning out the good work.

PMA is the best music site, the only one i subscribe to. Getting your emails at god-awful 7 a.m. helps to wake me up (coffee helps, too) before I have to go to school. My only suggestion would be to refrain from posting so many throw-away remixes- post only the best of the best! It gets pretty old, seeing 20 different remixes of “Love Lockdown”.

PMA is on my “good morning” list of bookmarks. These are all the sites/blogs I check everymorning when I wake up. I generally check these sites once a day in the morning, however as of late, I’ve definitely been checking out PMA while at work a few times a day. I’ve also been spreading the word, sending out links to a post “You have to read this!” or “You have to download this!”

And I generally get a reply from those friends thanking me for putting them onto a great music blog. There’s alot of good music blogs out there, but from the day I found PMA, it quickly made it to the top of my list.

I do have some constructive criticism in regards to the design/layout of the posts. I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing what’s a link and what’s an advertisement. Specifically when the link is in a colored box thats approximately the same size as the 300 x 250 adverstisement. (you may have guessed, I’m a web designer)

I also give a lot of thanks for all blogs that hold contests and giveaways. I would have a very hard time parting with that Fuji Instax Camera for sure!

Well, keep up the good hard work and honest reviews!

PMA is an amazing blog it has ton of fresh original material that I don’t ever see on other blogs. I love how frequently it is updated and how you strive to bring the best to your blog. I miss the cover posts that you used to do weekly and post more stuff on z-share so we can all dowload the amazing material you post. Otherwise this blog is amazing and I love getting the e-mails saying that you have posted new stuff though generally I check it so often I already know. See ya later and keep up the good work

I love love love this website, and i make sure that i get my daily dose of PMA, however…

I think that your website should blog more into the indie rock scene, taking into account that you blog about The Killers and Radiohead, recently i have noticed that most blogs have been directed towards an RnB, Pop audience. Perhaps with more genres, you could get more views.

You are obviously into art, evident from the PMA banners. I would like to see a blog into art every blue moon, it’s very hard to find a blog with good music and good art, arguably the two biggest factors for culture.

Also, but not neccesarilly, it would be nice to know who is running the blog, perhaps information? Pictures?

Oh Oh Oh. Gig news.
Gig news would be the cherry on top :]

I would like to take this opportunity to say that i love this blog, and it’s my first site for new music.
xxxxxxxx

Pretty Much Amazing is great – I love coming here for industry news and covers. I first found it through remixes, though, and you could stand to post more.

Pretty Much Amazing is Pretty Much Amazing!
But if you make a contest, you should other people know who wins the price. It’s really bad to wait for results and nothing comes.

But the rest is amazing!

Out of the five music blogs I go to PMA is by far the best. Not only do you have most of the music I see on other blogs first, your sites pretty danm organized compared to others., and that you have contests weekly doens’t hurt why I like this blog so much.
