I hope you all had a GREAT Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Deadbeat Saturday-and-Sunday Weekend! I had fun avoiding the family (just kidding… well not really) and shopping all weekend; and taking a break from everything. I did miss blogging though!Â
Well PMA is back on its regular schedule and with some cool swag just in time for Christmas! This is the first of FOUR great contests Pretty Much Amazing is holding this month.Â
This week PMA is giving away 6 Mixtape Flash Drives.

What’s old is new again. The Mix Tape Flash Drive is, well, a flash drive that looks exactly like a mix tape! Featuring a retractable USB jack that easily connects to any computer and is compatible with both MAC and PC. Comes with two customizable labels. Holds 512MB of music!
Here is how you can enter!
1. Leave a comment with your name and email address in the given fields
2. Tell me who you’d give your mixtape to.
Simple enough right? Oh and I should tell you that six people will win 1 mixtape usb drive each.

From: Patrick
To: Maggie, who plays all my mix CDs off the tape deck adapter connected to her mom’s walkman without the skip control, so I have to hold the player perfectly skill as we drive through Virginia in order to rock out.
the magic word is “repawawrli” …repeat all together: “RE-PA-WA-WR-LI!
5 easy steps to make yourself happy (on christmas eve – what a revolution):
1. RE-cord (for example with your favorite music… than the joy is bigger, later)
2. PA-ck (a good looking present, with this mix as content and send it to yourself)
3. WA-it (till christmas …stay patience, its soon)
4. WR-ack (the funny part of the whole procedure)
5. LI-sten (loud!)
i guarantee: no more unexpectet gifts, bad temper or dissatisfaction at christmas!
but don’t forget to think about what “christmas” is standing for…
I would give the mixtape to you. I adore your taste in music and I would want to share my predilections with you!
But really though, I don’t want the flash. I just wanted to write that after what everyone else had to say.
I’d give it to my roommate because his computer just CRASHED a week before finals…He could definitely use a pick-me-up slash learn how to back-up all the important files that he’s lost. He’ll probably get a C on all his term papers that have evaporated into thin air, but at least he’ll have a usB-side to show for it : )
BTW we love you here at Penn State!
I would give it to my sister … a stocking stuffer of sorts.
i would give it to the girl whose pants i’m trying to get into…sexual healing anyone?
i’d load the flash a sixth of the way full and send it out to my brother-in-law. who will then, load another sixth of his music after transferring mine to his comp, and send it to his friend burt. burt will do the same and send it to another person who is part of the six people in a group of us we have dubbed the flash pack. kinda lame spin on the rat pack, but it works for us.
sharing music via flash drives is so great, and to have my bro-in-law (and the others) open up the monthly package to see a mix tape flash drive…well, i’m sure the looks will be photo worthy.
I’d give it to my boyfriend and put songs we both mutually like on it, that way there’s no fighting in the car over what to listen to
i’d give it to my friend A as repayment for always somehow finding me the songs i love, no matter how obscure.
I would make a mixtape full of feel good music for this sweet and cute girl
Since Christmas is coming, I’d rather tell the truth and nothing but the truth on who I will give this retro mixtape flash drive to.
As selfish as this may sound but honestly I simply couldn’t resist not having this. Being a late 80s child, this would be the perfect gift for me to invoke the long lost memories of forgotten past – the plastic-y feel of the cassette tape, the tacky-yet-now-it’s-classic shape and who could forget how easy the plastic tapes within got tangle up (Ah, I miss not having to deal with that frustration again).
Santa can put me on the bad list this year for all I care. But I have to be on PMA’s good list this year. Definitely.
I’d totally give it to a girl named Camille, w/ all of the best songs I could think of!
I’d give it to my ex-boyfriend because, despite not being together any more, he has really been there for me this year when I went through some tough times and has become my closest friend. Also because he exposed me to the wonders of Mr. Bungle.
I would give it to my little brother…because I’ll be leaving him soon as I head off to college. He’ll be on his own to bicker with our mother and discover the wonders of the teen years, and I’d love for him to have some beautiful music to make it through.
I’d give it to my mom because she 1) needs some new music in her life, 2) needs to learn how to use a flash drive, and 3) she’s my mom.
Hi, I’m Ben.
i would give the mixtape to my roommate Jon. But first I would fill it up with music from here so the next time I have to hear his stereo I will be able to tolerate it.
I’d give the music to my wife. She’s a stay-at-home mom raising our 2 sons (3 and 1), so only gets to hear children’s music. It’s hard to imagine anyone more out-of-touch with today’s music. She echoes this refrain every time I comment on some song I heard on the radio. Poor thing’s desperate for an MP3 infusion.
I would give it to my best friend who’s off in another city in college.
I’d put all our “anthems” and new music that i discover so that she can keep up with me and never forget how much she misses me haha.
I’m sending a mixtape to my former college roommate who’s serving in the Peace Corps in Uganda. She’s worried she’ll be missing out on two years’ of awesome new music.
I’d give it to yo mama, I’d give it to yo mama…. the mixtape that is. Holla!
A couple years ago, I gave a mixtape to a girl I had (have?) a severe crush on. Thinking it was going to be an easy task, I ended up having to run all over town locating friends’ stereos to see if their tape deck worked because my system’s deck wouldn’t work (even though the MiniDisk player was still fine and running). I find out later that she had to borrow her roommate’s Walkman in order to listen to it. Later on, she would give me the best Valentine’s Day ever by leaving a mix CD at my door with a bundle of hand picked flowers.
She now lives in Colorado while I’m finishing school in Florida. Before moving, we had given multiple mix CDs to each other. She would remind me of artists I needed to reconnect with and I would provide her with what’s good and new. She’s the reason I care about Wilco. She says her new place has a tape player in the living room and she still jams out to my old mix. If I get this USB drive, it would be a part of a care package I would send her. Hopefully, when I’m done with school and she’s done… with whatever she went to Colorado to do (discover herself?), we’ll be able to reconnect.
One day, the timing will be right.
The “That ol’ chestnut” of mixtape giving. A Girl. Shocking yeah? But here comes the twist… I love her. Dearly. And its really not complicated at all… she loved me back but I was clouded by my own belligerence and selfishness and couldn’t really see how good i had it. So instead of just staying off me trolley till Christmas and drunk dialing the first six digits of her phone number before hanging up 3000 times while feeling sorry for myself (which in all honesty really isn’t half bad), i would like to prepare a gift for her. A mixtape chalk full of what my feelings sound like. She grasps music like no other and well…yeah
. Thank you for your time.
I would load a personal “best of ‘08″ on it and then drive downtown. i would then put in a post box and mail it to my home address. so i would be given to myself from myself in a different place
yeah i’d give it to my g/f b/c she only listens to mexican music :/
i would give it to captain planet
I’d give it to someone who didn’t know what it was.
I’d give it to Obama, to rock out with in the White House like Hugh Grant in Love, Actually.
i would give it to my dad who’d probably think it was real and try to play it in a cassette player and eventually get sick of it and then ill be able to take it for my own use :]
I’d give it to my friend Steve, who is a music nerd
I’d give a mix to my local grocer, they need to change the shopping music from something old people, to something booty rockin’…
I would give the mixtape to my Christian friends so they can finally download some “wholesome” music into their lives
I’ve give mine to my brother. His small-town ears need a little push.
wouldn’t it be nice if you could actually play this cassette in your cassette player?
