Cool band alert: Philadelphia’s Elegant Animals just dropped an EP of their sexy, slow-burning R&B-inspired electro-pop, and you’re free to stream and download Spectrum Nocturnal on their bandcamp right now.

We love the duo’s amalgamation of a bevy of disparate influences – post-dubsteppy electronic percussion, tropical synth riffs and drones courtesy of the likes of Washed Out and How to Dress Well, futuristic soul crooning in the style of James Blake… We’re most impressed though, by the tracks where the band incorporate guitar and live drums – “Syndicate,” namely, with its shimmery guitar, soul-poppy piano, and tropical percussion, is an endlessly catchy highlight. Check out the whole thing.
