Jessie Ware’s followed up her excellent 2012 release Devotion with this release, a collaborative effort with the new Osaka pop duo BenZel. Together, the three musicians took on “If You Love Me,” a track released in the ’90s by the R&B girl group Brownstone.
They keep some of that ’90s R&B flavor intact (that hyper-catchy chorus) but bring the track up to date with clattering, minimalist percussion, plenty of digital effects, and sublime-as-always vocals from Ware. The track comes with a video, too, by Kate Moross, who you’ll remember from Ware’s “Wildest Moments” clip. Check it out.
