In this newly unearthed reference track for actor turned R&B crooner Jamie Foxx, actor turned rap pinup boy Drake laments his unwise taste in women over a sluggish, foghorn-esque beat. Drake’s sultry, buttery falsetto fits the song’s general vibe like a glove – we wish he’d keep this one for himself. It’s refreshing to hear a man sing so wistfully about his foolhardiness in love, and with a little work – I can’t shake the feeling that that beat could be way, way more engaging – it could be a real lighters / iPhones-up slow burner, impressive for a reference track.
