Ellie Goulding‘s musical taste and talent has been validated, in my eyes, for some time now. With original tracks that rival Annie’s best, Ellie Goulding has nabbed herself enough attention to be 2010′s Little Boots or La Roux.

I propose that Ellie Goulding is in a league that’s wholly her own. She capable of delivering sugar-rush jams like “Starry Eyed” and “Under The Sheets“, but even more stunning are her minimalist covers. The type of stuff reserved for Bon Iver and Midlake covers.

On her moving cover of Midlake’s “Roscoe”, all we hear is Ellie, her guitar and her voice at its most raw and vulnerable. This cover of “Roscoe” is, without a doubt, my favorite recording of hers. I can only hope her debut album will take a break from the jams and bangers and let her shine like this. Catch the mp3 below:
