Gauntlet Hair, Chicago born musicians Craig Nice and Andy R, have only a few singles and EP’s to the moniker – released by labels such as Mexican Summer and Forest Family – but have just announced that their debut full length is all set and ready to go. The now Denver based duo have just signed to Dead Oceans and are giving away first single “Top Bunk” to anyone willing to lend an ear.

The song represents the band’s ability to craft weird, avant-garde pop songs; a multi-layered effort that combines big, sweltering bass, lo-fi noise pop and experimental dance music. Backed with Andy R’s raspy, often unfathomable vocals, and relentless hand clap samples, “Top Bunk” is an enjoyable listen from front to back.

Gauntlet Hair’s self-titled debut drops October 18th (that’s the awesome cover art above); if you’d like to hear more by them, than check out last year’s epic single, “I Was Thinking.” Download “Top Bunk” below:

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
