Girls had a big year in 2009 with unstoppable singles “Lust For Life” and “Hellhole Ratrace” and critically acclaimed debut Album. I’ve expressed my indifference for Girls’ Album on this blog before, and many times on Twitter. However, it’s no secret that I did like the singles released by the band, and their forthcoming single, “Laura” is no exception. In fact, in my mini-review of Album, I praised “Laura” and said it was essential and required listening in 2009. It looks like now that’s been extended to the first quarter of 2010.
True Panther will release Girls’ “Laura” on a 7″ single on January 26. The single will be backed with the exclusive B-Side, “Oh Boy”. You can pre-order the 7″ at the Matador Store. Listen to “Laura” below:

This song is gorgeous! Is their album really that bad? I don’t know how an album with three amazing singles can be bad…
Hmm… Some time ago Pitchfork informed that the next single from “Album” will be “Morning Light” and it’s coming out on 22nd February…

I suppose it was only UK. This is the US release from True Panther (most of the time, I only pay attention to US release, for obvious reasons).

I’m not sure about “Morning Light” – if Pitchfork says it’ll be released on Feb 22nd, maybe it will, but I know THIS ONE is out at the end of this month.
