Is this song really better than “21st Century Breakdown“? No. Is “Know Your Enemy” a better first single than “21st Century Breakdown”? Well I’ve listened to it about 4 times and all I can remember from it is Billie asking me if I know my enemy, so I’m going to assume this will do better in radio than 21st Century’s triple-tiered build-up structure — think “Holiday” vs “Jesus of Suburbia.”
“Know Your Enemy” has a sing-song quality to it that will probably make it a mainstay in mainstream rock radio for quite some time. In other words, unless you absolutely love this song, don’t turn KROQ on anytime soon.

Love it. I’m confident in them.
It’s grown on me with each listen. It’s definitely no “American Idiot”, but it’s a damn good song. Color me excited for the whole album.

haha, the lyrics to these songs are stenciled randomly around my town by the art dir. to use for the liner notes…
