No pretense here. I know how you guys feel about covers, and you know how we feel about covers.

Our most listened to band of 2009 (we did the math, thanks iTunes + Last.fm), Grizzly Bear stopped by Australia’s Triple J Radio and performed a cover of one of Hot Chip’s most beloved tracks. Needless to say, Grizzly Bear dressed “Boy From School” in its Sunday best, fit for Veckatamist inclusion. Listen to and download the wonderful cover below:

There’s a live version of “While You Wait For The Others” and an interview over at the Triple J website. Props to IGIF. I say it’s time for Hot Chip to stop by Radio 1 and cover “Two Weeks”.

I have to admit, I am not familiar with the original version of this song, but I do love Grizzly Bear and their version of “Boy From School” sounds amazing. The kind of sound that you can get lost in. I am most def going to check out the original out of curiosity when I get home today.

The Warning is, in my opinion, Hot Chip’s finest effort. The weird ballads like In The Privacy Of Our Love and Brothers really detract from the other albums on the whole. That’s why it’s so interesting that GBear can take a high-energy song from a band that doesn’t do downtempo very well and turn it into something so enchanting.

Also, I second the whole Hot Chip + Two Weeks motion.
