We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, where would we be without BBC Radio 1? Well, we’d still have that excellent remix Jamie xx (you know, of the xx) made for Adele, but we can really hear Jamie xx shine on this admittedly fucking incredible half-hour mix he made for Benji B’s show on BBC Radio 1. The mix is essentially perfect, weaving together tunes from James Blake, Beach House, Cassie, Mount Kimbie and Lumidee seamlessly. Jamie xx also throws in some original remixes of Jamie Woon, Adele and Gil Scott-Heron. Watch out the mix’s climactic track, the effervescent “Far Nearer“/”Pass This On” by The Knife bootleg.
When he’s not tears holes into the universe and dropping mixes, Jamie xx likes to talk about his day job, being one-third of The xx. Last night he told Benji B that The xx “were going to take a break, but we’ve been at home for like two months now and we’re all eager to start recording music again, so I reckon we’ll spend a lot of time in the studio.” Can we expect a new xx album for Q4 2011? Mull over that one while you crank the volume up for Jamie xx In The Mix:
