Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (feat. MGMT & Ratatat), Music Video

The third official single off the record, “Pursuit of Happiness,” was produced by electronic duo Ratatat and features Brooklyn superheroes MGMT. The beat is smooth and slick — props Ratatat. It wraps itself nicely around Kid Cudi’s painstaking lyrics and MGMT’s subdued vocal contributions.

I wrote that back in September, a few days after Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon leaked, and now, we finally have a music video to watch. According to the ever-reliable Confusion, the video was directed by Brody Baker, who also did Animal Collective’s “My Girls” and produced by Josh Hartnett, who Cudi met during his work on the new HBO series How To Make It In America. And here’s the kicker, Cudi’s GQ-adorned, crush-worthy peer / competitor / BFF Drake makes an appearance, dancing around and spraying champagne on everyone. Figures.

And if you’re interested, read on for Steve Aoki’s remix of “Pursuit of Happiness”

Total ripoff of Hey Champ’s video for “Cold Dust Girl” which came out last year. Boo to kid cudi and his director!

Not really, Kid Cudi is in real time and people around are in slow motion, nothing like that in Hey Champ’s. As an afterthought Hey Champ probably weren’t the first people to make a music video with people partying in slow motion.
