Yeah, just like ant said. If everybody knows he’s going to retire, then those who loves his music and/or want to watch him will be like “MUST GET TICKETS ZOMG!!!1!one” . I would if it was one of my favourite bands

…no better way to extend your career and mobilize your fan base than to proclaim you’re going to retire. it boosts ticket sales, record sales, airplay, buzz in the media, and you even get a blog entry on PMA.
