Here’s that track Kid Cudi let the Transformers people use for their trailer. It’s pretty chill, but I’m nowhere near impressed. I’m not a huge fan of recycled beats. It’s cool when a song gives slight nods to others, but Kanye’s production on “Sky Might Fall” sounds just like “Welcome To Heartbreak.” Maybe now I understand why Kanye West thinks that Cudi’s album is a classic in a making — it’s going to use the same beats he used on 808s. Ha, sneaky Kanye.

But seriously, Cudi can do better than this, even as a lyricist. I’ve been revisiting A Kid Named Cudi late at night for a few weeks now — this song would not stand out at all in that mixtape. It’s good Friday listening though.

Yeah the beat isn’t strong but this is supposedly the unmastered version since the leak is said to have not come from Cudi’s team.

I love the song very much. It has a great melody to it, especially the chorus with those lyrics:

“The sky might fall, but I’m not worried at all”

For me, the song has a lot more charisma than “Welcome to heartbreak”, not to mention that the lyrics are a lot better (lyrics on 808′s were the low of kany discography if you ask me).

Man, Luis, you keep on hatin’ on Cudi! Why? He’s awesome.

I got this one Luis,

Rally… Luis doesn’t HATE Cudi? Nor is he hatin’ on him. Do you know how to read?

Just because he isn’t saying “Sky Might Fall” is the best shit he’s ever heard (it’s so not), doesn’t mean he hates it. I agree with what he’s said here.. the track isn’t anything special. Though it is a lot better than “Welcome To Heartbreak,” like Ivan said.

Yeah, its an okay track. sort of boring though. It has nothing on Day N Nite

Ha, you’re dead on with the “Welcome To Heartbreak” comparison. But I really like “Welcome To Heartbreak”. I don’t think Cudder is ever going to be known for his lyricism, but his simply melodies make his music so appealing to me. I find myself humming this chorus at least twice a day since I’ve heard it.

I disagree. I find this track is amazing, and that it’s not on a “recycled beat”.

You’re so right.. It sounds so much just like Kanye’s last album.. It would be good if they could go farther than that!

Here’s an idea; instead of writing about songs and how much you dislike them, why don’t you post songs you actually like?
Makes me wonder if you have this blog for the love of it, or just to get as much traffic as possible by posting what the masses like, even if you don’t support it.

First of all…Cudi aces guerilla marketing.
He would never have gotten the spot for Transformers if he didn’t get behind the blend/mix in the first place.
Good move…good song
But I hope Kanye comes up with fresher beats for Cudi’s LP.
808′s was lazy
