Gorgeous Gossip Girl bitch Blair Waldorf Leighton Meester has reportedly been recording an “electropop” album that is slated to release later this Fall. Last year, Leighton’s cover of “Bette Davis Eyes” hit the web to an unsuspecting fanbase. The girl singing sounded nothing like our beloved Blair Waldorf. This, of course, was not a bad thing.

Since then, Meester has hooked up with Awesome New Republic on “Birthday” and she has now recorded with Cobra Starship on a track for their upcoming album. Using these two songs as markers, I think it’s safe to assume that Leighton Meester will give Katy Perry a run for her money.

Haven’t you heard? She’s the crazy bitch around here. Told ya.

Catch Leighton’s 3 songs after the jump. The quality is pretty terrible, I’m afraid.

I love GG and I love these songs—you should do something on Taylor Momson’s band the Pretty Reckless—she has a pretty good voice and they just got signed to some label…it’s a GG party!

“Birthday” was actually written and recorded by Awesome New Republic and the original version (without her) is on their EP and is much better in my opinion. I’m not hating on her yet but I so far she has just brought down the quality of two great bands.

I think the version of Birthday you’ve posted is a mashup of Blair’s and the Awesome New Republic original, or maybe sounds like it. But I can be wrong.

Luis, have you seen the movie “Drive Thru”? It’s not something I recommend you to watch but… Meester sings in it :D You can download the song “Inside The Black”, a cover of the band Inside The Black (http://www.myspace.com/insidetheblack), here:

Surprisingly, I’m really looking forward to hearing more from her. You never want to think that actresses should move into the music world, but she’s got a decent voice and I like the direction she’s taking.

not gonna lie, i love these. put them up yesterday.

Oh, and i just ripped the version of Poker Face that lady gaga did on Ellen. it’s pretty bizarre.

Im thinking leighton’s going about this singing career thing pretty wisely. but then again, im a die hard GG fan. digging taylor momsen channeling c-love, too!

She’s not a bad singer, at all. She’s just not choosing super awesome material. What’s she doing covering Kim Carnes?? But I stand by my opinion that the Cobra Starship song is awesomely bad.

Oh and I’ve tried to watch Gossip Girl but couldn’t get into it (that guy playing her on again, off again boyfriend is just ridiculous). But I remember her in several episodes of House where she totally tries to jump Hugh Laruie’s bones.
