A few days ago I reported that Local Natives had been signed to Frenchkiss records (Passion Pit, The Antlers, Freelance Whales) and were going to release their full-length debut Gorilla Manor on February 16th.

Well the good news keeps rolling out. Frenchkiss (which is quickly becoming our favorite label) will be releasing the first single from Gorilla Manor, “Sun Hands” on January 5th (that’s the single cover above), but you can download it now for free.

MP3: Local Natives – Sun Hands

The song starts off slow and mellow, gaining momentum in a natural progression. The crescendo and the band finally hits their stride somewhere around the two-thirds mark of “Sun Hands”. At this point is, the song has exploded into a frenzy of riffage before quietly seeing itself out.
