The word you use when you want to talk about Magic Bullets’ “Laying Around” is summery. A bubbly bass line and bright, beachy guitar provide a perfect backdrop for a voice that sounds like the day Ed Droste decides to start singing like Ezra Koenig. Something about this song – maybe the wistful better-days lyrics: “There were so many things I wanted to do with you!” – says cotton candy on a boardwalk, viewed through fuzzy Super-8 film.
