Elite Gymnastics are givers. The duo of Josh Clancy and James Brooks have been giving away their music for free for quite a while now, you might remember two formidable remixes called “GAGA” and “WAKA,” and their Neu! 92 EP. The kindness continues with a new double EP called Ruin 1/Ruin 2, which includes nine brand new, electronically infused tracks that showcase this duo’s raw potential.
The double EP is influenced by a wide variety of genres, most notably 80s new wave (“Minneapolis Belongs To You”), drum & bass (“Here, In Heaven”), electronica and hip hop. The songs tend to be a bit on the grimmer side, housing distorted and unrecognizable vocals, and eerie backdrops (“Little Things 2”). They also decided to pull a bit of a Tune-Yards by spelling out all the songs l i k e t h i s.
Download Ruin 1/Ruin 2 here, and always be on the lookout for freebies from the ever-so giving Elite Gymnastics.
